Swiss artist Suark is teaming up with Brazilian talent Warmada and American vocalist Zaxai for an emotive and powerful house record titled 'Into The Sun', coming to Stadiumx' Sub Religion Records. This international fusion of styles has led to the creation of a warm, moving track to make the mind wonder off and escape the moment. 'Into The Sun' is about a warm desire, a dream of pleasure and pain that often comes together, creating a perfect balance that will make you feel alive!

Accomplished duo Field of Dreams return to their label with expansive new deep house EP ‘Keep Rollin’’ Field of Dreams is Al Mackenzie, a part-time pop star with D:Ream & full-time DJ and musician who also runs his own Retroforward nights, and graphic designer Chris Kentish from Field Theory, who has released on Futureboogie and Secret Life. They have worked together since 2017 on the likes of Pleasure Unit & Tici Taci and received big plaudits for their remix of Les Crocodiles' classic 'La Nuit Des Tropiques', including from the late Andrew Weatherall who went on to remix the pair. Following support on Radio 6 Music and a hiatus during the pandemic, they are now back with a deeper and edgier sound than previous outings. "Perhaps a sign of things to come, perhaps not," say the ever-evolving pair who like to keep fans guessing.

Opener 'Into The Sun' is a scintillating mix of deep rolling house grooves and authentic machine soul. The far-sighted chords and twinkling pads make for a reverential mood that draws you in for an emotional ride. The title track is a slow-motion workout with elastic bass and subtle acid lines under muttered vocals. It's hazy and lo-fi like all the best Detroit house. The magnificent 'Mind Over Matter' is another timeless deep house sound with layer upon layer of synth warmth, cosmic radiance and perfectly dusty analogue grooves that work both body and mind. 'Into The Night' builds towards the peak of the party with more driving drums and pulsing acid that keeps you on edge and 'Mind Field' then cuts loose on more ramshackle and percussive house grooves with plenty of lush signature synth work from Field Of Dreams.

This emotive and immersive EP is a perfect return for this masterful pair.

"I'll Follow You" (from the new musical INTO THE SUN)

This is a song that I assembled from various bits and pieces that I had written at different times as part of a creative prompt to create a song using a cut and paste technique. 

While the intention was fundamentally to create lyrics from various random sources, I introduced a 'next level' level of difficulty for myself by instead shoehorning all of these various elements and finding a way of making it all work as one cohesive piece of music from a both musical, lyrical and production perspective.

Just resolving the different sections into the one key was a considerable challenge given that they'd been written completely independently of each other.

Once again I wear the obsessive Beatles fandom both on my heart and on my sleeve. Right down to the screaming girls that appear in the guitar riff section.

I have played everything on the recording sans the drums that were played by Joe Montague as part of his "All You Need Is Drums" project.


Beatle specific instruments include my Hofner 500/1 violin bass guitar and the John Lennon Rickenbacker 320.

The reverse piano chord, modelled on the chord that completes 'A Day In The Life' was recreated with 6 x piano samples.

The track has topped out at 135 individual tracks in Logic and given the gargantuan task of mixing it, this version is pretty much with the levels and effects that were selected on the fly while recording it.

Similarly, the vocals are all rough positionals too. These will need to be re-recorded to a far tighter degree.
