His ancestors, Daniel McKenna (Armagh) and Ann Callahan (Cork), had emigrated to Boston during the Irish Famine (An Gorta Mór) in 1850 and 1852 respectively.  Daniel McKenna and Ann Callahan were married in Boston (Charlestown) on October 1, 1854.  Daniel, and his brother Neil, were two of the six founding members of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Boston (American Society of Hibernians) on March 17, 1857.  This organization was formed "for the purpose of rendering assistance to the sick and disabled members of their society, and also of providing for the decent burial of the dead". 
• Jim's great granduncle from Drumkeeran Ireland, Thomas McPartlin, performed Irish traditional music on the banjo in Boston during the late 1800's.

Lament for the Children of the Kilkenny Workhouse · Uilleann Pipes

This is part of my world mix series. Obvious this week is Ireland as this weekend I will be playing the entire weekend at the 4 largest st. Patrick's day block party in the USA.
This is just a quick mix I did live to get familiar with all the tunes and trying to see which go together and which don't and yes I found out the hard way but don't let stop you from enjoying some grand irish tunes. 
It reminds me when I used to dj on a Sunday Night for a 100 gaelic football and hurling guys and gals and it was the most rowdy bar in town. Just everything went, I had to hold off people from falling on my cd decks with one hand and put cd's in the deck with the other hand. 
Just freaking fun and yes people in SF have no clue how people used to dance on top of the tables and chairs, now it is just an absurd past but hopefully for the people who remember here is a lil mix for you.

Here's a waltz recorded by accordion player Terry Lane in 1928 for the HMV label (IM 530). Lane was also a member of the Dublin Metropolitan Garda Céilíde Band and recorded sides for Bill Stapleton's fledgling Irish Recording Company label.

Now he is the founder of the Kingsday Party in San Francisco.  Marc still DJ's the 4th largest Irish Block in the USA where he mixes his love for Irish Music with the latest EDM.
He also does the block parties for Bastille Day and Persian New Year.
Marc is a truly an international DJ as he has played French Lounge to Arabic House.  He has DJ'ed over 60 countries from Ibiza to Indonesia!
