Following the release of his driving track “Riah” on So Us Vol 1. last year, Anja and co. are happy to welcome Isaac Reuben into the Sous Music fold with his first EP for the label, the aptly named Keep Pace.
The title track is a house roller that gradually blossoms into a high-BPM party cut for wonky dancefloors. A vocal grab stuck on a loop and circular, menacing keys combine in this energetic but dark-toned track, ideal for introducing a new mood.
“I Look 2 U” is a headier cut frontloaded with a slamming kick, hypnotic repeating synth line and silvery hi-hats that increase in intensity as the track progresses. It’s an eyes-down, post 2am track designed for a full mind and body rinse.
“Full Tilt” kicks off with a flurry of sexy filtered percusssion chased by arpeggiating synths that blow in like a cool breeze. A sprinkling of tinkling keys and a sneaky little bassline finish off this nice little summertime heater, perfect for the afternoon or early evening.
To finish, label boss Anja Schneider steps up with a spicy “I Look 2 U” remix, adding Floorplan-esque keys and acid squiggles. A housey piano riff renders the original a few shades brighter, making it more suitable for peaktime.
A prolific producer and DJ who founded a UK-based vinyl-only night dedicated to preserving pre-social media vibes on the dancefloor, Reuben lives and breathes electronic music. He also works for and releases on Hotflush Recordings, has presented shows on Rinse FM, Threads and Loose FM, and his music has been featured in BBC Radio 1 Essential Mixes and fabric mixes. Sous are delighted to be releasing his debut proper for the label which  demands that his contemporaries do just that — keep pace.
