The blessings that Jacob gives to his sons in Genesis 49 are strange, mostly because most of them aren't "blessings" at all. Most of them are quite negative and suggest negative consequences for his sons. Why does he do this, and what are the meanings of the blessings here, as well as the blessings of Moses in Deuteronomy 33? We explore that in this message.
