There isn't much to say about the song better off. We've all been on either side of this fence. The songs message speaks for itself. However i will say that i am immensely proud of this song. The composition and arrangement make for a truly encapsulating tune. The way the song progresses directly after so free really gives the EP a proper ending in my opinion.

Better Off

So Free with @jamiam_bass, is in my opinion the most melodically powerful of the project. With a piano, horns, and synths all colliding in the intro it sets a mood that stands out among the 4 songs on the EP. Leading into a drop beautifully composed by JAMiAM this song is arguably the most emotionally impactful, even with only two simple words spoken on the entire song. As i continue to grow as a person and an artist, breaking down my own walls both mentally and musically.... i listen back to this song and i truly do feel, so free.

JAMiAM X JamL - So Free

Am i even human is probably the simplest, and most straight forward of the four songs on Growth, but not lacking in the power it brings to the project. With a very quick intro, nasty bass lines, and call and response patterns that seem to speak to one another, listening back it reminds me of the mayhem that constantly takes place in my head. The main basslines being interrupted with fills that break up the flow are an ode to the way my intrusive thoughts sometimes disrupt the regular flow in my mental state. And its during those mental swings that i often wonder, if i am even human.

Am I Even Human

The rain was the first of the four tracks i wrote from the Growth EP. it sets the tone with an ambient atmosphere unlike any other i have created. Over the past year I have gone through alot of emotional ups and downs. And alot of change. Sometimes looking back it almost seems as if I've written these songs for myself without consciously realizing it at the time. Change is hard, and often times when we're striving for change it seems as if we will never accomplish the change we seek out. With a brushed piano melody i wrote that bounces all around the stereo field and sub bass to rattle your brain the first drop reminds me of a hard day in life, walking home, caught in the rain. Clothes feeling heavy from being soaked and a heart that feels heavy from the weight of constant mental and emotional struggle.  

But the song breaks, evolves and explodes in the second drop, seemingly representing the ferocious willpower it takes to overcome those moments where life seems too heavy to carry on.

Just an old dude trying to make it in this crazy world!

Identifying as an open-format EDM artist, ANJ. brings a variety of house, experimental & future bass, melodic trap, and some hip-hop influence to her sets. She takes listeners on an emotional ride with her love of beautiful, lyrical tracks, no matter the genre.

She started her DJ career in 2020 by playing local house shows, and has now supported many incredible artists, including Habstrakt, Matroda, Kaivon, Bleu Clair, TVBOO, ALLEYCVT, MeSo, sFam, Super Future, Toadface, NotLö, Weird Waifu & more. 

Her festival debut was in 2022 (Magic Moon, Dancefestopia, & ReJuvenation). In 2023, ANJ. had the honor of playing ReKinection, Boulevardia, Breakaway, Impakt & Topeka Backyard Music Festival. 

She began her producing journey last year & looks forward to her first EP release on October 14th, 2023 ✨
