Introducing our next Sister of Sound - AMELIA LACKMANN

Melbourne-based DJ, designer, visual artist and long-time dance floor devotee - cutting her teeth at Melbourne’s underground institution Killing Time in 2013, she grew to become a regular fixture on the techno bar’s line-ups. Amelia has since developed a distinct palette of uplifting beats and a reputation for energising dance floors with good vibrations across a number of events and venues. 

Her unwavering passion for music and rave culture has seen her artistic work spread across several Melbourne venues and festivals including The Liberty Social, Curtin House, Section 8, Let Them Eat Cake, My Aeon and most recently, as a producer of Festival No.23.

Amelia weaves through an extensive understanding of electronic music in this mix, drawing on tribal drum pattern elements with techno-like synth sounds.. curated to push and pull you through this extended journey.

‘Happy Accidents and Stories Untold’ - a series of random, unplanned sets I recorded over the last 10 years or so. These mixes are my therapy…sometimes taking me far away when I need to escape…hypnotising me into a happier, calmer, hopeful frame of mind.

So, regardless of musical preference and with an open mind, I hope you can devote an hour of your day to go inside yourself with no distractions (and some good headphones). Go for a walk, run, cycle (one of my favs) and journey vicariously with me…beyond the blips and blunders, in search of those serendipitous (or at least harmonious) happy musical accidents.

BIOGRAPHY: 
Freshness, groove and love of the electronic music. Carlos Chavez is a Canary Islands DJ with more than 12 years of career and more than 19.000 mensual listeners in Soundcloud. He is DJ resident of Papagayo Beach club, the best club in Tenerife and the most recognized club of Canary Islands. There, Carlos has been playing music in his native island and positioning himself in the national scene for more than 10 years.

The music that Carlos plays is characterized by being fresh and dynamic. Carlos devises and executes his sessions for the creation of energetic atmospheres, and transports listeners to stimulating ambiences, where they can enjoy nightlife and the dance floor. He always leaves his distinctive mark as a DJ with his characteristic sound and polished technique and elegant and attractive taste.

In 2020, Carlos Chavez creates his own personal label Soleá, and currently has his own radio show on the renowned Balearica Music radio station. His recognition in the Canary Islands and in the national and international scenes is constantly growing. With his wide range of experience and his refined technique, in his sessions Carlos Chavez invites us to listen to suggestive melodies and sounds, to get carried away by paradisiacal atmospheres and to enjoy nightlife.

Hello friends, 
  I began dipping my toe into DJing in the mid 90s. Dissatisfied with the endless loop of the 7-10 songs on pop radio cracking out of the speakers in the salon I was working, I decided to try and bring my own music collection to the shop. I was an avid (possibly obsessive) collector of lounge, electronic, ambient and dance type music. Im embarrassed to say what I must have spent in those days at Oak Lawn Records, Tower, and Virgin - may they all rest in peace - but it also began time to get some equipment. I purchased some equipment, albeit simple rudimentary gear at my local guitar center and began making compilations at first, and mixes as I progressed and developed more of a skill and ear for it.
 Today I enjoy playing different types of sets and venues. I typically do a monthly show at one of the more underground-friendly spots in Dallas where i can play out some dance melting bangers, as well as more lounge and downtempo sets for hotel lobbies, art galleries and the like.
