After experiencing the loss of someone dear to me in the summer of 2021, I was overwhelmed with a whirlwind of emotions, vivid dreams, and powerful visions. I started seeing the contrasts in everything: light and darkness, dreams and reality, life and death. 

This song is about losing someone you love and longing for them, but realising you have to stay alive and keep going. It is also inspired by the soviet version of Alice in Wonderland. I wanted to capture the ambiguity of its character with whom I relate a lot.

“ARCUNTARA” nasce dal desiderio di valorizzare una parte del patrimonio di leggende e storie antiche riguardanti il territorio della collina e montagna emiliana. I testi delle canzoni ripercorrono le pagine di alcuni testi letterari scritti all’inizio del ventesimo secolo, nei quali la memoria delle antiche leggende del territorio trovava ancora fertile interesse nei letterati del tempo. Tra le pagine di questi libri, nascono canzoni che sanno di un certo riraccontare, come se all’arte del raccontare di nuovo fosse affidata un’inedita memoria, quella della parola che diventa musica e del canto che rende suonabili e ascoltabili i ricordi. 
Le storie e le leggende dell’Appennino rivelano la quotidianità di un mondo ancestrale e rurale piena di leggendarie verità ed hanno ispirato sia i testi poetici delle canzoni del progetto, sia la scelta di alternare armonie e melodie drammatiche ad altre spensierate e giocose, quasi accompagnassero, in un viaggio emozionale dal presente al passato e dal passato al futuro, la tipica festa di un borgo emiliano.

I componenti del gruppo ARCUNTARA, tutti di formazione classica colta e maestri di conservatorio, uniscono esperienze ed approfondimenti culturali e musicali anche differenti, con particolare riferimento al mondo musicale del Jazz, influenza che a tratti affiora con evidenza negli impianti armonici di alcuni brani del progetto e in maniera quasi costante nelle parti condotte con stile improvvisativo, sezioni musicali che fungono a pieno da collegamento intertemporale tra lo stile arcaico dei testi e la contemporaneità delle musiche.

A smooth, jazz-tinged confessional from a man who navigates life with a grin and a getaway plan. This version of “Mystery and Free Wine” delivers its lyrics with smoky detachment and a wink you can’t quite trust. Upright bass, brushed drums, and minor-key piano frame the story of someone who RSVP’d to chaos without asking for a dress code. It's part cabaret, part smirk, and fully aware it’s already left the party by the time you ask who invited him.
