Köln ist nicht nur eine Hochburg im Karneval, auch in Sachen Drum&Bass hat die Stadt viel zu bieten. Episode 11 unsere Mixreihe kommt daher vom Kölner DJ und Produzent ‚Decon‘.

Als Resident und Mitgründer der Interference Partys, ist Decon ein wichtiger Bestandteil der deutschen Drum & Bass Szene. Die Interference Partyreihe versorgte über 10 Jahre den Kölner Raum mit einzigartigen Liquid Drum & Bass Partys. Neben Shy FX und Nu:Tone, waren auf ihren Veranstaltungen auch Künstler wie Marcus Intalex und Calibre zu Gast.

Seine ‚jazzig-soulfullen‘ Sounds, die er in seinen Sets und Produktionen verewigt, haben es schon längst über die Grenzen unseres Landes geschafft. Seit 2012 produziert Decon erfolgreiche Songs für das Wiener Label ‚Jazzsticks Recordings‘. Zusammen mit den Künstlern Paul SG, Pulsaar und Flowrian bilden sie das Künstler Kollektiv ‚The Jazzassins‘, die am 20. April ihr Album ‚The Chalet‘ veröffentlichen werden.

Die 15. Episode der Punchmix-Reihe wagt diesmal einen Sprung über die Landesgrenze hinaus und stattet einen Besuch in der Millionen-Metropole Wien ab. Die Hauptstadt Österreichs ist nicht nur bekannt durch zahlreiche Sehenswürdigkeiten und Kaffeehäuser, sondern auch für eine sehr aktive Drum & Bass Szene mit zahlreichen Veranstaltungsreihen und Künstlern.

Einer davon ist der DJ und Produzent Paul SG, der mit seinem klassischen Liquid Drum & Bass autark gegenüber seinen österreichischen Landsleuten arbeitet. Dennoch erzielt sein Sound, der unter großem Einfluss von Soul und Jazz Musik steht, viel Erfolg in Europa.

Den Genuss seiner qualitativ hochwertigen Musik hat auch die Drum & Bass Legend LTJ Bukem für sich entdeckt, sodass Paul SG seit 2009 fester Bestandteil des Good Looking Label ist. Aber auch andere Labels zeigen starkes Interesse am gebürtigen Bad Kreuznacher, wodurch seine Produktionen auf Innerground, Liquid V oder Fokuz Recordings ein Zuhause gefunden haben.

Zudem kann sich Paul SG seit nun mehr als 5 Jahren als Chef eines eigenen Labels beweisen. Unter dem Namen Jazzsticks Recordings veröffentlicht er, zusammen mit gleichgesinnten Produzenten, Drum & Bass Produktionen, die in hohen Maßen von Jazz- und Soulsamples geprägt werden. Dazu zählt auch das im Frühjahr erschienene Debüt Album „The Chalet“ des Künstlerkollektivs „The Jazzassins„, bei dem Paul SG eine große Rolle einnimmt.

In unserem Punchmix werden die Hörer für 30 Minuten in die tiefen des konventionellen Liquid Drum & Bass entführt. Darin enthalten sind zahlreiche unveröffentlichte Tunes, die in laufe der nächsten Monate auf Jazzsticks Recordings erscheinen werden.

InSession 02 : SoulStructure

Drum and Bass producer & DJ from Folkestone in Kent, known primarily for music towards the liquid end of the spectrum, Oversight's sound fuses rolling basslines with emotive melodies and splashes of Jazz. These combine to create something as equally suited to the dancefloor as to a pair of headphones.

On the decks he is a force to be reckoned with, his mixes and blends have led to him sharing stages with the likes of Roni Size, LTJ Bukem and Nutone to name a few.

As a producer Oversight has had releases on labels such as Jazzsticks, Celsius, Influenza and Grand Theft Audio and his production skills have earned him radio play on Radio 1 and 1Xtra.

Punchblog.de ist seit dem 01.September 2014 das Projekt der zwei Erfurter DJs und Musikliebhaber Andreas Trümper und Karl Weske. Inzwischen als Trio aktiv und mit Maximilian Balcerek erweitert, versorgen sie die Leser ihres persönlichen Blogs mit interessanten Artikeln. Die Homepage bietet die Möglichkeit sich im deutschsprachigen Raum über Releases, Mixtapes, Livestreams und Events rund um Drum & Bass, Jungle, Footwork sowie anderer Broken Underground Musik zu informieren. Neben Blogartikeln und Eventdates gehört auch eine eigene Mixseries zum Blog. Unter dem Namen PUNCHMIX erscheinen in regelmäßigen Abständen Mixtapes von diversen Künstlerinnen und Künstlern. So waren im Blog bereits Gäste wie Paul SG, SubMarine, ReDraft oder Velocity vertreten. Musikalisch wird das Trio in ihrer Podcast-Reihe aktiv, in der sie neue und alte Release vorstellen.

Der „Punch“, aus dem englischen übersetzt „Schlag“ und in der Drum&Bass Produktion ein wichtiger Charakter für die Soundabmischung, soll im Namen des Blogs als Synonym für die Kraft von Drum & Bass sowie für die Schlagzeilen der Artikel stehen.

Brothers John & Dominic Crossland formed SoulStructure in 2012.
Influenced by the likes of PFM, Artemis and Intense, the duo went on to sign their early work to LTJ Bukem’s legendary Good Looking Records.
SoulStructure have since released most of their music through Paul SG’s pioneering Jazzsticks Recordings, culminating in the release of their debut album Time & The Truth in 2018.
Having collaborated with the likes of Nookie, Madcap, PFM and The Invisible Man, SoulStructure will guide you through ambient soundscapes, scattered with jazz samples and underpinned by solid steel classic drum breaks.
