Easter Sunday!

Our Easter celebration included songs, readings, and first-hand accounts from key witnesses to the resurrection. We had the participation of Roman soldiers, Simon Peter, John and Mary Magdalene! Along with other eyewitnesses, they recounted the story of Jesus' death and resurrection.
 
We believe that the resurrection is absolutely central to our Christian faith.

As Paul wrote to the Corinthian church:

“If Christ has not been raised, then your faith is futile and you are still under condemnation for your sins.”

Jesus is alive today!

Experiencing The Resurrected Life

The True Euangelion: The Good News of Jesus Christ

The word "Euangelion" comes from the Greek language and means "Good News." It is the very foundation of the Christian faith—the proclamation that Jesus Christ has conquered sin and death, bringing salvation to all who believe. This Good News is not just another message; it is the power of God for salvation (Romans 1:16). It is the divine announcement that changed the course of history and continues to transform lives today.

What Is the True Euangelion?

The true Euangelion is the Gospel of Jesus Christ—the declaration of His birth, life, death, resurrection, and His coming Kingdom. It is the greatest story ever told, not just because of its historical impact but because it is the only message that has the power to save, redeem, and restore mankind to God.

Jesus Himself declared in Mark 1:15: “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the Gospel.” This statement reveals the essence of the Euangelion: God's kingdom has come through Jesus Christ, and through Him, we receive eternal life.

The Message of the Cross and the Empty Tomb

The heart of the Good News is found at the cross and the empty tomb. When Jesus was crucified, He took upon Himself the sins of the world, bearing the punishment that we deserved (Isaiah 53:5). But the Good News does not end at the cross—on the third day, the stone was rolled away, and the tomb was empty! Jesus defeated death, proving that He is the resurrected King and the only way to eternal life (John 11:25-26).

The empty tomb is our assurance that the power of sin is broken, and through faith in Christ, we are made new (2 Corinthians 5:17). This is the true Euangelion—a message of victory, redemption, and eternal hope.

Why the True Euangelion Matters Today

The world is full of temporary solutions and false promises of salvation. Many seek peace, hope, and purpose in things that do not last. But the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the only message that provides real peace, real hope, and eternal purpose.

It brings salvation – Jesus is the only way to the Father (John 14:6).

It offers true freedom – The Gospel sets us free from sin, shame, and condemnation (Romans 8:1-2).

It transforms lives – Those who receive the Good News become new creations in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17).

It prepares us for eternity – Only through Jesus can we enter the Kingdom of God (John 3:3).

How to Respond to the Euangelion

The true Euangelion is not just to be heard—it demands a response. Jesus calls us to repent and believe (Mark 1:15). To embrace this Good News, we must:

Confess Jesus as Lord (Romans 10:9)

Believe in His resurrection (Romans 10:10)

Turn from sin and follow Him (Acts 3:19)

Live as witnesses of His truth (Matthew 28:19-20)

Euangelion: The Song of Salvation

The song "Euangelion" captures the power and beauty of the Good News. It is a declaration of victory, a song of resurrection, and a reminder that Jesus is alive. Every note, every lyric is a proclamation that the Gospel is still transforming lives today. As we listen, we are reminded of the empty tomb, the risen King, and the eternal hope we have in Him.

The Bergquam’s started their training for ministry in San Diego. They began full-time ministry with an evangelistic tour throughout the USA and Canada, encouraging believers in the local church for outreach. This was followed by 3 years of evangelistic tours to 13 countries throughout Europe, serving with Victory Outreach Ministries based in Amsterdam, Holland. In 1990, Kurt and Valerie followed God’s call into pastoral ministry with a church plant to the city of Lelystad, in the Netherlands. Completing 7 fruitful years on the mission field for the Kingdom, they returned home to continue pastoral work in different regions of the USA. Since 2011, Kurt & Valerie are super blessed to be serving Jesus with Harvest Time Church in their hometown of San Diego, coming full circle from their ministry beginnings!

Pastor Kurt enjoys working with Marketplace Chaplains, sharing Christ’s message of hope with corporate business leaders in San Diego. He also serves as Chaplain with Teen Challenge USA many years working with those suffering from drug and alcohol dependency. Both Kurt and Valerie are ordained ministers with the SoCal Network Assemblies of God. Kurt received his B.A. degree and master’s in Theology. Valerie has a bachelor’s degree in Theology, and is currently studying in the master’s program for an M.Th. with Christian Bible College and Seminary in Blue Springs, MO. She is passionate for mental, physical, spiritual health and well-being for every individual; certified with the Cleveland Clinic , previously coaching women throughout Riverside and San Diego counties as a Fitness & Dietary Counselor. Kurt enjoys skiing and water sports, including surfing and their family loves hiking together in the great San Diego mountains.  They have two adult children.

Based in Totnes, England, we are a church that follows the teachings of Jesus Christ. In our services, we like to spend time with our focus squarely on The Lord.  Our worship teams lead us in sung worship and help people to encounter God as we turn our affections to Him, and our talks focus on inspirational or challenging messages from the Bible.
