Glory To feat. Mariella Doriano – Caught Up

Glory To (aka John Dean) sails into Hot Digits Harbour, showcasing the stunning vocals of Mariella Doriano with ‘Caught Up’; a four tracker also bringing the considerable talents of Ben Jamin and Jimmy Allen on remix duties. 

Caught Up is a straight up, unabashed worship at the alter of the disco gods. With a heady, intoxicating aroma reminiscent of a Rose Royce groove to start us off, the bass welcomes you home whilst Mariella’s infectious and sultry vocals fill the room. One of those rare tracks that gives you a cuddle and tells you everything is going to be ok. 

The Ben Jamin Remix brings a later night vibe to the original. This is all about the meaty beat, smooth fingered bassline and uplifting piano with, of course, Ms Doriano’s gorgeous voice dripped lovingly all over like a honey glaze. A serious dancefloor destroyer. 

Jimmy Allen then squeezes up the BPM to 122 for his turn on the remix roster. This remix immediately grabs you as a slinky and sassy disco house tip-toe walk. The beat is stripped back to precision, almost garage like step – lashings of high hat and swing beat behind a tropical haze of keys, bass and Mariella’s hypnotic vocals swirling around. A tremendous take on the original. 

Last up is the bonus track, ‘Storm So Long’. Glory To weaves a sunlit psychedelic pattern with this mid-tempo original groover. If you think you know Glory To, think again. ‘Storm So Long’ pulls the rug in the best of ways.
