Pocas personas he conocido en la vida que te digan las cosas, cara a cara. La mayoría prefiere hablar a tus espaldas. No así John Stott (1921-2011). Lo que pensaba lo decía personalmente, fueras un predicador tan conocido como Billy Graham y Martyn Lloyd-Jones, o un obispo que negara verdades fundamentales del cristianismo como John Robinson o David Jenkins. Hoy en día, los adalides de la “sana doctrina” aparecen ocultos bajo otros nombres en Internet. Se creen “héroes de la fe”, cuando se esconden cobardemente, para atacar al que se muestra con nombre y apellidos. No tienen el valor de aquellos a quienes admiran.

Stott siempre estaba abierto al diálogo, pero tenemos que entender bien a qué nos referimos con diálogo. En el contexto ecuménico esto suele querer decir, generalmente, buscar el mínimo común denominador, o evitar simplemente el conflicto doctrinal. No es así como lo entendía Stott.

Al hablar con otras personas, Stott buscaba lo que les unía a ellas, pero también aclarar las diferencias. Era alguien amable y paciente con las personas, pero firme y claro en sus convicciones. No le gustaban las controversias, pero si tenía algo que decir, lo decía abiertamente. Me temo que la mayoría no somos así, yo el primero...

En este penúltimo programa de la serie por el centenario de Stott, le oímos a él mismo hablar sobre la visión de Jesús en Juan 17 para su Iglesia, así como al juez y predicador laico de All Souls, David Turner, sobre cómo veía su pastor, Stott, la unidad de los cristianos. Escuchamos una canción pidiendo a Dios que nos una de la popular cantante cristiana de los 70, Evie, asi como el tema clásico del músico afroamericano Andraé Crouch, ya fallecido, "Jesús es la respuesta". Todo ello comentado por José de Segovia con el fondo instrumental del grupo de jazz de fusión, Koinonia en vivo en 1984 y el disco que otros dos músicos cristianos de aquella época, Richard Trouwbridge y Douglas Souther, hicieron de improvisaciones al piano en 2006. La próxima entrega será ya la despedida de esta larga serie de homenaje...

Tomasz Guiddo pays homage to the rich legacy of musical symbiosis and interconnection between rap, jazz, and house with his latest single 'Live It Up'.

A sizzling collaboration with magnetic MC, philosopher and educator John Robinson (aka "Lil Sci" of legendary east coast hip-hop trio Scienz of Life), the song was heavily inspired by the post-bop jazz era and the golden age of late 80s/early 90s conscious rap, hip-house and acid jazz infused with contemporary nu-jazz aesthetics.

Cleverly combining the classic stylings of Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter and Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers with the Bohemian hip-hop chic of Digable Planets' groundbreaking debut 'Reachin' (A New Refutation of Time and Space)', the lyrical jazz-rap fusion of Guru's landmark 'Jazzmatazz, Vol. 1' album and the heady jazz-house sophistication of St. Germain, the duo creates an energizing party jam effortlessly fueled by Robinson's uplifting motivational lyrics, commanding Nas-esque raspy vocals and smooth melodic flow and Guiddo's slinky deep-grooving soundtrack incorporating live and electronic instrumentation.

The 4-track set is rounded out by two mind-blowing reworks by Serbian producer/composer Noternight (aka Aleksandar Milicevic) and eclectic Polish producer/remixer purrppl (aka Filip Macioszek) that brilliantly recast the beatific original into a blistering pair of genre-blurring leftfield future classics.
