Celebrating John Coltrane's happy heavenly 99th birthday (Thursday 9/23/26) with his composition  "Equinox," named by Naima Coltrane for the autumnal equinox that fell on John's birth date; 3 versions of John Coltrane compositions, 2 of them new and one from drummer MIchael Carvin's debut, The Camel. We hear MIchael's rendition of "Naima," and then from his new release, "Live In San Francisco," "Dear Lord;" From alto saxophonist Sara Hanahan's debut, John Coltrane's "Welcome," Teri Lyne Carrington and Christie Dashiell's new reimagining of "We Insist Freedom Now Suite," by Max Roach and Oscar Brown Jr. with Abbey Lincoln, and again on the Candid label; Remembering George Adams and Don Pullen; a belated 95th birthday (9/7/25) to Sonny Rollins and 87th birthday (7/26/38) to Joanne Brackeen; new releases by Joshua Redman, and pianists Cyrus Chestnut, Carmen Staaf, Sullivan Fortner, and Dawn Clement.....
