Dynamic duo Danny and Mike Parton return to their Jolene label with four more timeless cuts
The split EP features two tracks from each artist, with disco and house colliding in colourful style

House music has been a defining feature of the lives of the Parton brothers for as long as they can remember. They have lived and danced through many evolutions of it and bring all that knowledge and a love of 90s style and classy French touch cool to their own work. It has landed them big releases on plenty of top labels, often laden with superb samples and plenty of dance floor impact. Now they are focussing on their own Jolene Records and impress once more with this fourth outing.

Danny kicks oﬀ with 'Blow', a loopy disco-house gem lit up with bright synth lines and plenty of lavish hits that all build towards the drop. When it comes, the floor is sure to explode into a frenzy. Next is the fantastic 'Don Lobito' with its swirling pads and loved-up vocal sounds drifting over tight, kicking house drums. It's a perfect blend of the physical and the emotive.

Mike then steps up with 'Housewife', a moodier cut with menacing late-night energy, funky bass riﬀs and loose-limbed drums that are topped with erotic vocal whispers. The instant filter house classic that is 'Aspirateur' closes out with feel-good energy, expressive synth flourishes and soulful drums that bring life-aﬃrming joy to this most essential EP.

Mike and Danny Parton return with four more energising fusions of house and disco
The pair once again serve up two tracks each on the fifth release on their own Jolene label

The French duo of Danny and Mike Parton have brought plenty of timeless charm but new school thinking to their music in the last year or so. It has come on their own Jolene Records and has proven irresistible to both DJs and dancers with its subtle references to French touch, disco and funk. Their sounds are smartly sampled and packed with the sort of good-time grooves that never fail to unite the 'floor.

Mike opens this one with 'Djazz', a freewheeling cut with jazzy melodies that bring joy next to a bluesy vocal sample. The drums are big, the claps are packed with swing, and the whole groove is loaded with character. 'Bissou' keeps the vibes flowing with more insistent drum loops and vocal stabs that build the tension before a huge moment of release brings dancing keys and explosive reactions.

Then it's over to Danny for 'Bames Jlake', a filter-heavy house aﬀair. It has cooing vocals, smeared melodies and a warm and Balearic feel, as well as a fantastic slow-motion breakdown before the drums land once more. Lastly comes the fantastic 'Instashit', which is a vibrant blend of dazzling disco melodies, throwback vocals and funky drum patterns that never quit.
