I'd planned on making a version of both this one and the Gold/Silver version, so I did just that. I actually started with the later version and then worked my way back to this one. I'll be uploading said version very soon as well, and I made a conscious effort to make sure both sound at least a little similar in instrumentation. Hence, there's a great use of a horn section.

It was a fun challenge. Hope you enjoy!

Pokémon Red & Blue - Viridian Forest

I wasn't a huge fan of the HeartGold/SoulSilver version of this, as it spoiled the opening. The original in Gold & Silver fooled you into thinking it was going to play the same old Viridian Forest theme with the loud opening, but then manages to take you in a completely different direction, into a more funky, laid back tune. The HeartGold/SoulSilver version started laid back and chill with a piano quietly playing the opening chords, already giving away the fact that this was a completely different tune.  I wanted to make this one as ambiguous as the original version… but with an update, of course.

As mentioned prior, I arranged both Viridian Forest themes as a set, trying to maintain certain similarities, that being the horn section. I felt that having the horns play both openings would make them sound similar enough, that way one "feels" thrown off when the solo sax takes over.

This time, I tried to put in a lot  more time and effort to make this sound pleasant for all ears (i.e Mixing/Mastering differently).
