Our first guests today are Yterenickia YT Bell, Senior Director of And Still I Vote (ASIV). YT Bell will discuss the goals of the ASIV campaign and how voting in local, state, and federal elections can help ensure our democracy works for all. And Still I Vote (ASIV) is a campaign of The Leadership Conference Education Fund that recognizes when we wield our power at the ballot box, we can deliver for our communities.

Joining YT Bell is Bree Spencer, Senior Program Director of Justice Reform, will explain the connection between mass incarceration and disenfranchisement and why ending mass criminalization and incarceration in the United States is an urgent civil rights issue. The objective of Vision for Justice (V4J) is to provide specific information about how to improve the criminal-legal system, to help hold our elected leaders accountable, and to amplify the urgent need for a new paradigm for public safety.  
   
Our last guest today is Jennifer Pipa, Vice President of the American Red Cross Disaster Programs. She will discuss the Disaster Outlook for this Spring. 2024 Has the Potential for Extreme Disasters to upend lives and communities across the U.S. This is part of a growing trend affecting families who are experiencing more frequent and intense disasters every year.

Emerald Garner is the youngest daughter of six children and is currently the Executive Director of the nonprofit We Can’t Breathe Inc., which is inspired by her late father, Eric Garner,  who was murdered at the hands of a now former police officer Daniel Pantaleo in 2014 after putting him in the now illegal choke hold. She has become the leading voice in the fight for justice for her father and has vowed to never stop fighting laws and policies that help police officers get away with murder.

Emerald joins the show to give her thoughts on the Sonya Massey shooting, and to also talk about the changes she believes need to be made in our justice system.
