Bash and bold, “About Last Night” holds no prisoners down with its unbridled groove and savage low-end dynamics as it expertly intertwines exquisite synthetic effects that tingle the senses. As it meanders down to a spacious breakdown where pulsating blips melt into a surging arpeggio before it latches on to Jil Tanner’s gargantuan construct, “About Last Night” truly comes into its own, with an arsenal ready to damage dancefloors worldwide.

August 2024 Mix Part 2

With 'Gold Soul' we welcome Ivan Berkowitz & Matiso to NYLO Lab. The duo developed a universally loved unique style; dynamic, groovy, deep and hypnotic fusion of genres that perfectly fits in any kind of club or open-air festival. Their releases have always received high acclaim - with support across the board from the who is who is in the world of electronic music. 

To open the release, Ivan & Matiso drop the wonderful 'Gold Soul'. A track full of deep harmonious vibes, as they guide us through the atmospheric vibe, while the arrangement keeps you moving with warm tinkling sounds. 'Gold Soul' conveys a smooth edge and some nicely effected sounding elements, capped off by the deep groove. We basically have the formula for a bit of a monumental outing. The groove and melodies are the key here, as this restrained gem works its magic while it plays away, creating a warm glow, creating an air of sophistication. 

The first remix of 'Gold Soul' comes courtesy of Absorb Projects. The Scandinavian artist reshapes the original elements into something deeper and more melodic spacious sounding. The wonk factor on the low end is quite high and monumentally groovy as well, nicely playing off the rolling rhythmic qualities as dulcet hooks and gentle harmonics drift in and out of the framework. The main break shifts the narrative into more emotive territory but the dance floor sensibility remains, with muted beats and percussive clusters building towards a tasteful drop. Superb rework from Absorb Projects. 

The second rework of 'Gold Soul' comes courtesy of Berlin legend Kaiser Souzai who delivers a classy indie dance track with infectious chords, intense drums and smooth breakdown to get you moving. It's all about the groove, cool house vibes and the driving beats that are working their magic around Irene's wonderfully arranged keys that create an irresistible rhythm while clever chords take the mind on a trip. 'Essential stuff'!

With 'Gold Soul' Ivan Berkowitz & Matiso really show that there're no boundaries, as his beautiful melodic gem guides you to a full-on club laden, melodic hug of a release that will cause many smiles induced moments! Hey Fams!

I deliberated for a while on whether or not to share this one. I prepped a set that I thought would work well in what I imagined for the setting but discovered on the day that the space (while a cool aesthetic) was a bright room sound-wise, and lacked subs. Ultimately not quite the vibe for my more 'big rig doof energy' vision.

On any other day I'd have swapped out my prepped set and have winged it with something else (probably some groovy minimal house). However, the fates had other plans; I was half way through rebuilding my music library at the time and my USBs only had this set and it's accompanying B-Roll (I keep a bunch of similar music on standby for any given set, even if it's prepped, just in case I'd like to start winging it). 

The resulting set was quite eclectic (At least it felt that way on the day)!

However, listening back in the car recently, I kinda like it still. It's a strange story, but a fun one nonetheless. There's a few tunes in here that might not otherwise get to see the light of day in my mix series. So, ultimately I've decided to throw it on the interwebs.

Back with Volume 4. This mix is a superb representation of golden era trance and hard trance, plus early snippets of hardstyle at the very end, with early Fusion and Scantraxx. Tracks from the 2001-2002 era. Full of some of my favorites over the years. I think 'Fast Forward... (To Madness) is my absolute go to tune. I remember seeing Jason Midro play this remix at Bass Station a few times. Still ingrained in my soul. 
A true journey mix that gets heavier and moodier throughout. Key mixed like always with this series. Hope you enjoy!
