Recently producing 130 bpm stuff i made this "Techno Breaks" or "Leftfield Techno" mixtape using the powerful synth engine of the Korg Electribe 2s / Hacktribe (a non official firmware thats add oscillators and more to the machine) and the funny analogue ribbon synth Korg Monotron. All the sounds are synthetized using the internal oscillators, for more complex drum sounds i layered two or more tracks (es for the clappy snare /1 layer noise + band pass filter /2 layer resonant noise with pitch envelope etc...).

Sometimes i like to return to my vintage cheap lo-fi Zoom ST-224 Sampletrak, a really basic sampler with a grainy sound and really limited controls. I sampled all the sounds from the Korg Volca Drum (really great samples generator) and processed on the Sampletrak using reverse, pitch, and changing sample start and and point... The Sampletrak have an onboard multi-Fx that sounds quite nice, i used the Bass Exciter on kick and some bass sounds. For the Fx i used the Korg Monotron, basic but effective analog synthetizer perfect for sci-fi style risers and sirens. Enjoy!

After a few busy months i'm returned to my synthesizers! For this simple jam i used the Korg Volca Keys with a simple drone style sequence, poly oscillator with a light LFO on pitch and filter, the Korg Monotron as noise / sweeps generator, an old Realistic Stereo Disco Mixer for submix plugged into a Zoom G1on digital multi FX with a custom stereo chain. I added a footage of a recent exploration in the unused basement of a 1850 palace. Enjoy!

DARK AMBIENT DRONE JAM with KORG VOLCA KEYS / MONOTRON and ZOOM G1on

New 140 Bass / Breakbeat jam with my Korg Electribe 2s with Hacktribe firmware and the mini mono synth Korg Monotron. For this jam i made some drum samples using different internal synth tracks (for example a tone, a click and a noise for the snare) then resampling in a single shot drum sound. I created a sort of 808 style kit and used to arrange the grooves. For the synth sounds i used mainly the FM oscillator of the Hacktribe version. With the Monotron i made some transitions and FX. Enjoy!

New Dark Experimental Jam with Korg volca Drum, Monotron and Zoom B1on multi FX.
I think that the sequencer of Korg Volca Drum is the best of the Volca serie, but have a big limitation: the pattern lenght! Of course you can chain different patterns but this exclude the use of mute and other functions. I seen a lot of videos with ambient sequences mad a really slow tempo so i tried to double the lenght of the patterns setting 86 bpm (instead of 172) and got 16th notes using the "slice" function on bpth drums and synths. I also added a digital multi FX (the Zoom B1on) with a custom chain with compressor, a little of distortion, an EQ and at the end a Plate Reverb. The sound it's more dirty and deep with a presence ideal for live performances. For FX and transitions i used the Korg Monotron and added a little of reverb and delay from the mixer (the session is recorded in muti-track). Enjoy!!
