Back towards the back end of the 80's after some big shows KilPig '86 recorded at Don Fury's Spring Steet Studio. The guitar player (DAB/David A. Bennett) and keyboard/backing vox (Sylvia Bullet) didn't show up until halfway through but Sandra Koponen (sax); Arnold "Panama" Brooks (drums); STAB/Steve Gabe (bass w/Boss delay) and the chanteuse extraordinaire Nozomi (vox) showed. Donny "The Don" as Roger Miret (Agnostic Front) had dubbed him had the sound down as usual, he dug the band and set the knobs right. KilPig was a well-oiled noise music making machine gigging constantly, getting a lot of press and making the scene as the scene was changing and we were the IT band for a moment on the Lower East Side (Loisida) playing No Se No almost every Saturday Night. The sculpture garden and art scene there was happening now more than the EV. DAB moved on from KilPig, the band he co-formed with Nozomi, to his new band Rogon which was strictly LES.  Without his fractured art jazz rock guitar focus we were transforming into something else entirely, sans guitare, but now Nozomi's husband Chuck Crobisiero steps up and adds that missing element to this Missing LP Deux, Deus ex machina a plot device whereby a seemingly unsolvable problem in a story is suddenly or abruptly resolved by an unexpected and unlikely occurrence.  He did it! He made us whole again. The album is alive and well. In memory of... So that's my story enjoy the proceeds and remember there's always more... In fact, the last KilPig Recording session will be the third in the trilogy of Missing LPs with the mystery studio owner guitar player filing in nicely. Thanks to the "Voice of Chuck" KilPig exists again in a more pleasant incarnation unleashed on a world where "The Conspiracy to Maintain Mediocrity" as John Lurie calls it is ever more present in our daily lives masquerading as unlimited choices. Technology lets us go backwards and forwards simultaneously. Kudos to Chuck! Neither/but Not Noir. Here's my much-anticipated interview with NYC DJ extraordinaire Dan Selzer (@newyorkendless) a/k/a Karen O.’s “friend Dan from Oberlin” about his role as a DJ in the so-called #indiesleaze movement and what the scene was *actually* like in reality. In the Spring of 1999, four NYC gals (two punks, two skins) stepped into a band practice studio on the Lower East Side and recorded three sessions of original songs and a couple covers.

This is the long overdue/promised digitized version of those cassette-recorded sessions. We wrote and performed other songs ("Circle Pit" lol) but these were our faves at the time. 

Big love to Terry (vocals), Denise (bass), and Ingrid (drums) for making so many of my punk rock dreams come true with our amazingly fun band, Puss-N-Boots, and to all the friends and fam who repeatedly came out to our shows at ABC No Rio, Spiral, Continental, in Toronto, etc.

Mubashir Mohi-ud-Din (aka "DIN") is a singer/songwriter, film composer, and producer based in the Lower East Side of New York City. Born in Yorkshire, England, to parents who emigrated from the disputed territory of Kashmir, Din grew up in Maryland/DC before moving to New York. Now a solo artist, under DIN NYC, Din previously fronted bands Zerobridge and THE MOORS, where he also acted as principal songwriter. In both projects, Din worked with notable guitar players and producers Earl Slick (John Lennon, David Bowie) and JP Bowersock (The Strokes, Julian Casablancas, Ryan Adams and The Cardinals, Norah Jones). Din also composed the film score to the critically acclaimed and award winning feature film, “Valley of Saints,” set in Srinagar, Kashmir. His songs have also been featured in notable independent films including: "The Messenger" (2009); "Amira and Sam" (2015); and “The Light of the Moon” (2017).

DJ Nacht Nurse is a versatile, queer, femme, vinyl DJ raised and based in New York City. Spinning records that traverse genres and eras, she brings an eclectic mix of sounds to every set, making each night unforgettable. DJ Nacht Nurse holds two esteemed monthly residencies: First Fridays at East River Bar in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and Select Sundays at The LetLove Inn in Astoria, Queens. Whether you're a local or a visitor, these nights are a must for anyone looking to experience the city's diverse music scene. She's always open to co-headlining gigs and back-to-back sets, ensuring every party is filled with inclusive fun and great music.

Beyond her residencies, DJ Nacht Nurse has an impressive client list, having worked with notable venues and businesses such as Charlie’s, Lockwood, Hell Phone, Plaxall, Lo-Res Bar, Culture Lab, Commune, Otto’s Shrunken Head, Belle Reve (R.I.P.), Support Women DJs, and countless private / wedding parties. Her deep connection to music is partly rooted in her past work within the NYC independent music label scene, including eight combined years at Moon Ska Records and Jive Records. Growing up in Queens and Brooklyn, the soundtrack of the city has always been a part of influencing her dynamic sets that resonate with listeners of all backgrounds.

DJ Nacht Nurse is not only a DJ, but also a proud registered nurse in NYC. With two nursing degrees and a stellar 4.0 GPA, she embodies the spirit of lifelong learning and an "each one, teach one" philosophy. This commitment to sharing knowledge and fostering mutual respect enriches her work both in healthcare and on the turntables. Whether she's helping patients or spinning records, DJ Nacht Nurse is dedicated to making a positive impact, one beat at a time.
