This lecture discusses key ideas from the 20th century philosophical short story writer, essayist, and poet Jorge Luis Borges's story "Pierre Menard, Author Of The Quixote" which can be found in Collected Fictions. 

It focuses specifically on the first portion of the story, where the author discusses Pierre Menard's visible work, of which he provides a definitive and chonological listing, supplemented by "a few vague sonnets", and certain portions of Don Quixote. In this video, we look at some of the common themes, features, and preoccupations of Menard's writing.

This lecture discusses key ideas from the 20th century philosophical short story writer, essayist, and poet Jorge Luis Borges's story "Pierre Menard, Author Of The Quixote" which can be found in Collected Fictions. 

If focuses specifically on the main portion of the story, where the author discusses Pierre Menard's "other, subterranean, interminably heroic production", namely that of writing the Don Quixote, a project which he was able to carry out in part before his death. We look at the inspiration, the motivation and intention, and the method of this work, and the author's own assessments of the superiority of Menard's over Cervantes' Quixote.

What’s doing? We’re all very busy these days, aren’t we? It doesn’t feel like we have enough time in the day, and there’s always something else to do. When you come home from work, all we want to do is sit down and relax. This means that it’s sometimes difficult to find time for language learning.
Would you be interested in online classes? We think they’re a great solution for the busy lifestyles that we have today. You don’t need to go out on a cold, dark evening, and you can take part in them from your own sitting room (or bed!) And even though you’re not moving, you could be in groups with other learners from all over the world. From Scotland to Australia, Gaelic is growing every minute.
Keeping on with the ‘A’ countries, here’s some information about online classes which are organised in Argentina! We heard from Uilleam that he runs classes in Buenos Aires. They run each Friday from March to December and he is willing to open up the classes to an individual or a new group.
These classes have been running for over twenty years, isn’t that amazing? Although the classes are through the medium of Spanish, English is also used when necessary. Also... we’ve heard that the SpeakGaelic resources make an appearance from time to time!

His research articles are published in Organized Sound, Leonardo Music Journal, Computer Music Journal and Journal of New Music Research. Kojš directs Foundation for Emerging Technologies and Arts (FETA) and teaches at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music.
