Especially when you happen to be doing it in celebration of the the great pride and glory and the very totem of gooi-ing mielies itself.

Thanks to the Scallywags for your dedication to showing us the light in the art of throwing those corns like there’s no tomorrow. For making me dig into my late night music vibes, which is always suuuch a pleasure. Who knew that corn could be so conducive to channelings of dirty beats and healing dance moves?

[For those of you unfamiliar with what “Gooi Mielies” means, it’s a South African expression for “throwing corn” which may sound really odd, but it actually in a more metaphorical sense means to “give it your absolute all”.]

For my fourth mixtape, Labil Mix 04 (November 2024), I dive back into the realms of deep, driving techno with a fresh intensity. This set carries a similar spirit to Hive Mix 03, embracing dark, pulsating rhythms and atmospheric builds, but it’s crafted as a standalone journey, not a direct continuation.
With BPMs between 130 and 134, this mix balances hypnotic grooves with forceful beats, weaving in powerful basslines and entrancing elements to keep the energy dynamic. True to the Labil mit Stil sound, it’s perfect for late-night sessions where the dance floor craves something deep and immersive yet powerful enough to keep you moving.
