It's better to mix for a long time. A long set enables a grandiose interplay of style and musical color. Like a work of art. My favorite sets are very long. Usually over 6 hours per set at the weekend. This allows me to immerse myself deeply in the variety of sounds. It's an exciting journey, from trippy jazz and bluesy soul to space disco from other worlds. The journey continues to ambient electronica and the unusual pleasures of experimental sound collages. This is DJing, this is the true spirit of DJ art. A 2 hour excerpt. Have fun.

This mix series is all about the afters. At a time when venues & governments fall short of pushing forward our scene & fostering culture, the after party is where culture building truly happens. And we’re not complaining.

We’re asking 8 of our friends, producers and DJs to help us with their versions of the “real” party after the “meh” party. And we’re calling it The After-After-Party Mixtapes. Totally subjective, totally in their control.

Q&A:

Q: What’s your go-to late night sound? What defines your choices?
A: It can be hard to box in for any DJ I imagine, but if I had to pick a route, it would be a steady mix of selections that are as fluid and bouncy as they are dreamy and grainy. It has to feel nocturnal to me, without being overburdeningly challenging or hectic, which is totally subjective but still definitely my approach to the late night.

Q: What is, in your opinion, the ideal afters? No wrong answers here, and definitely no judgment.
A: Given the current climate, my ideal afters is one where the party still gets to goes on and is a culminating meeting place for people in the scene to finish what they set out to do, which is dance! With venues and festivals crumbling under pressure from curfew policing, I feel the afters is and always should be a place for experimentation and culture to thrive. 

Q: Walk us through some of your selections. What are some of your favorite picks in this mix and why?
A: This mix features selections from my most recent digs and some favorites from the past year or so - all picked for their textural, spacey sound in general with a few contrasting choices to break them up the mood now and again. I’ve been in love with Gene on Earth’s Limousine Dream record label for the past year, and this mix has a rather large number of tunes off there as a bit of an appreciation that I couldn’t help myself with.

Be it through the holistic story that the song tells, an emotional bridge that helps to evoke a small satori effect to let negative thoughts fade away. It can also be pure monotony that completely grips you after 10 minutes, a string melody or simply a gripping bass that makes your body vibrate. All in all, my sets are a trip. On request, I can also provide 32-bit WAVs or AIFFs for newer devices free of charge.

All uploaded Tracks are HQ and extra loud for streaming services from rekordbox and other DJ software. So you can stream in HQ for DJ sets.
However, the bitrate should be set to 320 kbps, which unfortunately only works with a soundcloud go+ account so far. Otherwise I advise against it, as the bitrate is then only 128 kbps.

Why can't I see any statistics?

This is about music. It should speak for itself. Statistics influence what happens because people pay attention to click numbers instead of listening to the music. I don't like this development. That's why the statistics are no longer visible.
My mixes should also appeal to people who see it the same way. Personality cults or fame have nothing to do with good music. They are part of the mainstream pop culture that I really dislike.
