The If We Land EP serves as a companion piece to Dronal's 2023 release Whilst We Fall, offering 5 tracks of lush, rich, and beautifully textured ambient/drone music that, while containing some notes of warning, tends towards a more hopeful overall tone.

As with Whilst We Fall, a myriad of layers are blended together: field recordings of both the natural and human worlds; analogue radio recordings; analogue and digital synths; and improvised takes routed through unusual effects chains - all resulting in a fluid feel.

Reversing the concept of the Whilst We Fall cover - which took a visual representation of data and altered it to appear as a sunset - the cover for If We Land takes a photograph of a tree against a blue sky, taken with deliberate camera movement, and further blurs and distorts it to appear almost as a representation of data.

It all ties in with the influence of the natural world on Dronal’s work. A feeling that if he can create a lifelike sounding fusion of the organic and the constructed, then perhaps there is hope that we too can find a way to balance our lives with our impact on the planet. Maybe then, we can come in to land without leaving destruction in our wake.

The EP has been beautifully mastered by Porya Hatami, who has mastered albums by the likes of Arovane, Aidan Baker, Pausal, Andrew Tasselmyer and many more.

Horace Dan D. makes a fierce return to SUEVI with Let It Burn EP, a no-compromise techno release rooted in catharsis and renewal. Drawing from the idiomatic meaning of its title, the release channels the idea of intentional destruction as rebirth, burning everything down, metaphorically, to clear space for something stronger. A ritual of necessary destruction, where chaos becomes healing, and renewal emerges from the ashes.

The title track, Let It Burn, is a raw, high-pressure techno cut driven by pounding percussion and a relentless rhythmic voice, fused into a hypnotic, high-energy weapon built for peak-time dancefloors. Layers & Tools 2 follows as a deep tribute to techno's architecture itself: a focused exploration of sound layers, subtle or dominant, that intertwine to form the foundation of the music we live for.

I have long been a great admirer of the music of Philip Glass.  This piece uses similar rhythmic and structural techniques that might be heard in some of his compositions...or at least, I would like to think so! The instrumentation is not unlike that heard in selections from the soundtrack to Powaqqatsi, for example. The ongoing  persistent rhythm is overlaid with lots of melody and harmony...
