Boston was always a big Led Zeppelin town, starting back at the very beginning with the marathon Tea Party gigs, through this show right here. July 20, 1973 is the last time Zeppelin played Boston. The crowd is wild at this gig, so much so that the band eliminate Misty Mountain Hop, Since I've Been Loving You, and Moby Dick from the setlist. All to keep the crowd from going Chernobyl. No encores either. 

I play Celebration Day, a smokin' Stairway, and a brilliant No Quarter that presages the brilliance about to be recorded in NYC a week later.

I was delighted to come across this wonderful recording through Led Zeppelin Boots' amazing YouTube channel. April 14, 1970 had Led Zeppelin playing Ottawa, Alberta in a brilliant, exciting, explosive kaboom of awesomeness. 

The tape itself in fragmentary and incomplete, but what's here is gold. I play Dazed and Confused, Heartbreaker, and an incredible White Summer/Black Mountainside. This show was a delight!

Ingen midtvejskrise at spore i heavy metal-året 1975, hvor vi i år fejrer
50 års jubilæum for hovedværker fra både Alice Cooper, Led Zeppelin
og Black Sabbath. Vi kommer selvfølgelig omkring disse i dette
podcastafsnit, men også andre virile 50-års jubilanter som Ritchie
Blackmore's Rainbow, Queen, Aerosmith, The Sweet og Thin Lizzy.
Og så er der den spøjse danske heavy-vinkel anno 1975: Røde Mor.

Som altid er studievært Jens "Jam" Rasmussen i engageret selskab
med de tungt rockende eksperter Steffen Jungersen og Michael Stützer
Hansen.
Nedslagspunkter:
- Alice Cooper går solo, optræder i København og sætter kursen for
King Diamonds senere sceneoptræden.
- I 1975 hedder King Diamond endnu blot Kim Bendix Petersen. Her
gør han sig som rytmeguitarist i bandet Brainstorm, som bl.a. spiller
Deep Purple covernumre.
- Den ikoniske ex-Purple guitarist Richie Blackmore debuterer med sit
nye band Rainbow, der har den magiske metalrock-sanger Ronnie
James Dio i front.

- Deep Purple rekrutterer ny guitarist i den unge amerikaner Tommy
Bolin, der har godt greb om spaden, men kun en kort epoke i bandet.
- Lemmy skriver og indspiller sit sidste nummer inden han forlader
Hawkwind. Nummeret hedder... "Motorhead".

- Det rocker på forskellig vis i Amerika: fra ZZ Top over KISS til Blue
Öyster Cult.
- Michael fortæller om raketguitaristen Ace Frehley, Steffen om en
særlig guitarstemning i Blue Öyster Cult-balladen "Then Came The
Last Days of May".
- Queen indspiller "A Night at the Opera" og hæver baren op i
himmelstørrelse med uforlignelige "Bohemian Rhapsody".
- Rush og Thin Lizzy er fortsat produktive og på vej fremad.
- Det danske venstrefløjs kunstnerkollektiv Røde Mor laver
rødglødende heavy rock, og en satire over betonforstadens ulykkelige
skæbner.

- En epokegørende aften i netop betonforstaden: studieværten befinder
sig vis á vis selveste glamidolerne The Sweet lige inden de forvandler
sig til sorte metalrockere.
- The Scorpions giver den som tysksproget Sweet-coverband, og laver
deres eget tredje album... på engelsk.
- Power balladen slår igennem hos Aerosmith, Nazareth, Alice Cooper
og på hitlisterne, men ikke hos AC/DC.
- Vi afrunder med to hovedværker: Led Zeppelins ambitiøse dobbelt
album "Physical Graffitti" og Black Sabbaths eminente udkomme af
ryggen-mod-muren "Sabotage".
Tag med os tilbage til 1975 og kom i guldrandet jubilæumsstemning
med vort metalrockende studiehold og hard rock- og heavy-klassikere

This is an amazing send off for Robert Plant's higher range. December 8, 1972 at the Hard Rock in Manchester, UK is a great performance of a great band reaching their peak. The recording is clear and nice, and the instruments are all well balanced and represented. 

I play Since I've Been Loving You, and a raucous 27 minute Whole Lotta Love, with jams and medleys aplenty. It's great. It's 1972 Led Zeppelin. You should get the whole recording.

Electronic Dance Music Producer

eigenspace interest in electronic dance music goes back to 1981 when he was one of the Steve Strange's Blitz crowd and first saw Paul Oakenfold in Rumours, Covent Garden in the early 1980's.  At this time he bought himself one of the first music computers the Yamaha CX5M and together with a RX7 drum machine he started experimenting with programming music.  

A dance music fan from the early days eigenspace spent the 1990s travelling the length and breadth of the UK attending events by the likes of Fantazia, Slinky, Godskitchen, Gatecrasher, Essential, Sunrise, Cream, Global Gathering, etc. as well as being a regular on the London club scene at Strawberry Sundae and Sunnyside Up.  In the nineties eigenspace invested in a Roland MC-505 and Quasimidi 309 which he further experimented with programming. It was in 1997 that eigenspace heard tunes like "For An Angel" and "Out Of The Blue" which introduced him to his great love in electronic music - the trance genre.  

During the 00s eigenspace moved to computer software to make music.  He started with Propellerhead Rebirth and upgraded to Reason. He now uses a combination of Cakewalk Sonar, Apple Logic, Ableton Live and Propellerhead Reason.  He has developed his trance syle and produced a debut album in 2011 “Dancers At The End Of Time” and is now releasing the EP “Indian Summer” in 2012.


A lifelong Led Zeppelin fan sharing live Zep and related shows with fans. There's way more to Zeppelin than their official releases. Also I do bonus episodes featuring live recordings of other classic rock artists. $heartofmarkness
