For the 9th mix in my There & Back series of crate-digging mixes, I return to the golden era of old skool hardcore, 1992-1994, for some serious crate-digging efforts! It's crazy to think that these tunes are now 30 years old, but of course there's no sign of them ever settling down. I wanted to really do some digging, so I've pulled out a premium selection with lots of obscurities and rarities, and I've tried to minimize obvious anthems in favor of some lesser-known bangers. Part 4 and the final tribute mix of the series delving into the music of Photek, Source Direct & Hidden Agenda who were a huge musical influence on me growing up.

Signing off with a selection of the two brother's (Mark (Rest in Eternal Peace) & Jason's) finest. Some bits I couldn't locate and/or fit in, but all the tunes showcased in this series will always have a special place in my collection.

Nez Jungle Mix July 25

This is a mix of 90s jazzstep classics, with anthems and deep cuts from Tango, Lemon D, Peshay, Photek, and more. The jazzstep style helped introduce me to jungle/dnb back in the day.

My feelings have circled around from thinking jazzstep was cheesy, when I was deep into techstep and neurofunk, to appreciating the raw production and creativity of these early tunes. How different they sound from each other contrasts with how formatted the music became as it morphed into liquid funk and then liquid dnb.

The artwork, brilliantly executed by RQ, references the iconic Wipeout 2097 soundtrack, down to the wave slyly evoking the title.

This mix features fallen soldiers Tango, Mark Goodings (Hidden Agenda), Molly Duncan (Intense), and Marcus Intalex, who released "Sky High", which sampled Guru.

DJextreme - 1996 Jungle Drum & Bass [Jungletrain Mix EXT093]

One of my favorite eras for drum n' bass was the early jump-up sound in the mid-90's. Rugged breaks, wobbly basslines, rugged hip-hop samples - this was a truly banging style of rave music that still sounds incredible today. In this mix, originally recorded for the mighty @peoples-station, I drop an hours worth of rough jump-up tunes from 1995 to 1997. All killer, no filler!

Most mixes will focus on drum and bass/jungle music which I grew up with and was heavily influenced by in the early to mid 90's. There will be a whole host of other genres that cover a wide spectrum of influences that come deep rooted from my upbringing and curiosity. Hopefully you'll enjoy the channel via similar tastes or perhaps discover something new, even if old, and that's the beauty of music, it's timeless.

When the mood takes these uploads are done for the love of the music and appreciation of the artists/labels.
