Based on the heartbeat of John Ono Lennon

Nov 1968 Yoko Ono was in hospital having a miscarriage. Towards the end, He (John) put decided to record the baby's heartbeat. Which they published on "Life With Lions" record (1969). I can clearly hear a tempo from the heart. I've built a  rhythm track around it. When I fed the original recording into a stock Drone App, it converted it to heavenly music in C minor. "Tomorrow Never Knows" is C Major. So that's nice.

An acoustic cover of the iconic John Lennon song, "I'm Only Sleeping". Such a beautiful song. I especially love the bridge. I wish I had someone to harmonize over it. I played this on acoustic guitar, with a capo on the first fret to try out a different vocal range. I overdubbed upright bass, and the killer WT played drums. Beautiful song.

A cover of the classic Beatles song "Don't Let Me Down". I tried it in a different key (capo 3) since I find the original almost perfectly placed out of my comfortable vocal range. I can't figure out if I should go high or low. This key works a little better in my register.

Sheff shows us Yoko’s nine decades—one of the most unlikely and remarkable lives ever lived.

Steve Heilig is an editor, epidemiologist, ethicist, environmentalist, educator, and ethnomusicologist trained at five University of California campuses. He is co-editor of the Cambridge Quarterly of Healthcare Ethics and of San Francisco Marin Medicine at the medical society he has long been part of. A former volunteer and director of the Zen Hospice Project, AIDS Foundation, and Planned Parenthood, he has helped improve laws and practices in reproductive and end-of-life care, drug policy, and environmental health. He is a longtime book critic and music journalist and emcee of the Sierra Nevada World Music Festival. He’s been part of Commonweal for 30 years now.

Acoustic guitar; folk; Americana; jam band influences; blues; rock; old time; bluegrass; grungey stuff. Even some electro and EDM vibes occasionally. I play a wide mix of music with a lot of different people. Currently playing most with Midnite Radio in Americana format and Eleventh Hour in a little more groove and rock oriented sound.
