twas a laid back night at rime (r.i.p.) on commercial drive in east van in august. i was getting free with the delay FX on this cheap beringher DJ mixer, adding extra sound effects on some axis8 cdj's (if i remember right), and playing some of my favourite dub and reggae records at the time. at least a few 45's in there, and, yeah, a good amount of original pressings (for those that care).

This bad gyal has been a long-time staple in Vancouver's underground bass scene for over a decade. She started out by spending countless hours digging elbow-deep in crates of 45s in Canada, the US and Jamaica. Her finely curated sets landed her behind the decks continuously and firmly solidified her as a member of Vancouver's notorious LIGHTA! crew. She is well-known for her legendary mixes, some being all-vinyl releases, her true love. Blending reggae/dancehall with bass/rap/RnB/grime, her musical repertoire is expansive and fresh. A regular at Bass Coast, she also graced stages at Shambhala, Diversity and her family-run festival The Field. She rocked the Thunder Stage at LIB and made ripples at the Moon Stage at the Oregon Eclipse. She has opened for well-known artists in both the reggae/dancehall and international underground music scenes and graces underground parties spanning the west coast and other major musical hubs. In 2012 she gave birth to Lighta's youngest little member. bup!bup!

Since 2007 The Willisist has been pushing the underground in Vancouver. As the head of the SHAHdjs he's forged the legendary False-o-Ween series, some of the best New Years parties ever, hosted over 300 shows, pushed the local scene with Nautilus and the Back Stage Lounge and more, plus been a regular at Basscoast, and played Shambs and Wicked Woods as well. With a genuine love for Drum and Bass he has opened or hosted for the likes of Calibre, D-Bridge, Andy C, Dub FX, Dub Phizix, Blu Mar Ten, LSB, Spectrasoul, Breakage, High Contrast, Pendulum, Von D, Netsky and dozens more.
