Everyone who came to Sublime Saturdays at Gelato Vero Caffe this weekend walked away with the feeling of Mediterranean sand between their toes, thanks to our very special guest Robert Oxford. He is a collector, a selector, and a tastemaker. His Down Tempo and Chill Out offering reinforced the sonic intensity of the joint, and it will be felt there for an eternity.

Our resident, Thomas Fitzgerald played a request for a special attendee and Birthday Person, Andromeda, who brought her posse in tow. We do HBD!

As the son of a professional flamenco singer, Thomas has always been surrounded by music.  Exposure to flamenco influenced him because it has a dynamic range of emotions—from the "deep singing" style of cante hondo, to the more lively alegrias.  He has also worked in the corporate, independent, and online music industry for a number of years.  At one point he was a Content Manager for the Electronic Music genre at MP3.com, where he screened over 500 songs per day.  Exposure to a wide range of music explains the range of genres in his mixes—he uses whatever carries the mood.  From listening to Umm Kulthum's "Enta Omri" in his childhood, to New Wave and  Industrial as a teen, it became difficult for him to stick to one sound. Though vinyl was his original format of choice when he started in the 90s, the use of digital mixing has helped him better form soundscapes to expand your headspace.  Let him play with your moods for a spell.
