Asking to attentively look into the blurry picture, the creators report something meaningful in the language of dub-techno. It is impossible to say exactly what all of the glitches, muffled fog loops, light noise and voice samples contain. Perhaps this is a tribute to the good old Detroit together with the longing for the departed, or maybe it is the personification of a new reality with its social indecision and fragmentation. This knowledge seems to flow in the fibres of the subconscious, picking out the answer inside the listener. Despite the noticeable anxiety of the ambient background, the threadlike pulse of life is performed by the warm chords, expressing hope for a better future.

Leval Alphonso Thompson also known as Linval Thompson, is a Jamaican conscious roots reggae vocalist, dub musician and record producer who was born in Kingston, Jamaica in 1954 & released his debut album in 1976 entilted " Don't Cut Off Your Dreadlocks" for producer Bunny Lee. Linval recorded many strong roots albums of the years while scoring some of reggae music's biggest anthems such as "I Love Marijuana" in 1978 & the self produced "Look How Me Sexy" in 1983. Linval also went on to produce many top reggae artists on his Thompson Sound label such as Dennis Brown, Cornell Campbell, The Wailing Souls, Barrington Levy and Trinity just to name a few. Linval still records to this day unleashing some modern day classics on the Irie Ites label outta France and for producer Jonquan on the Easy Star label.

So whether you're a hardcore fan of Mr. Thompson, a novice to his music or just never heard of him before this collection is a great listen covering the span of his whole career. So light up your spliffs, press play and enjoy 2.5 hours of some of my favorite tracks from Mr. Linval Thompson.
