Wispy tendrils of hot dust and gas glow brightly in this ultraviolet record of the Cygnus Loop nebula, taken by NASA's Galaxy Evolution Explorer. The nebula lies 1,500 light-years away, and is a supernova remnant, left over from a massive stellar explosion 5,000 to 8,000 years ago. The filaments of gas and dust audible here in ultraviolet sound were amplified by the shockwave from the supernova, which is still spreading outward from the original explosion and would have been loud enough to be heard clearly from Earth with the naked ear. Live deep techno @ 138 BPM using the Elektron Octatrack as the performance mixer. All tracks are unreleased. The set features two modular systems—the Techno System and the Shared System—supported by an RD-9 drum machine and Syntakt. The Techno System contributes pulsating basslines and percussive elements, while the Shared System adds experimental and atmospheric sounds. The RD-9 provides tight beats, and Syntakt adds melodic elements. The result is a cohesive and engaging deep techno performance, skillfully mixed using modern technology and modular synthesis.
