Von der Eröffnung des Extravaganza bei strahlendem Sonnenschein und brütender Hitze seid ihr mit uns durch sintflutartige Regengüsse und schließlich zum totalen Abbruch und der Evakuierung des Floors gereist, was zu einem sehr abrupten Ende des Sets geführt hat. Hello! We are once again proud to bring you another installment in our mix series! This time we have a special episode dedicated to showcasing the beauty of live electronic performance! Both our host, DØN, and guest, k.oz, are bringing you a full hour of live PA performances from their home studios! Please listen with both open ears and minds, it's experimental, it's weird and it's fire!

Give us a brief description of yourself!
My name is Joel (he/him/his), but I go by the name k.oz (chaos) for music and I am based in Chicago. I primarily perform improvised live hardware sets, though I sometimes DJ. I DJed for a while but eventually moved into production. Out of curiosity, I began buying hardware and quickly realized I was quick with it, which led me to perform live hardware sets. My setup is a Eurorack, 909, a sampler, and some pedals. My influences are 90s and 00s American house and techno.

What inspires you as an artist?
Community. Having a sense of belonging pushes me to be creative. Without sharing common interests with others creativity feels isolated and less meaningful.

What have YOU been listening to lately? Attended any shows recently?
I've been listening to a lot of mixes by Akua and Stojche lately; they're always in my daily commute playlist. I've also been really vibing with an artist named Tan Tan. I have no idea who they are, but their music truly moves my soul. The discographies of Sonic Mind and Black Nation have been keeping my ears busy.

Advice/words for new artists?
Don't be afraid to go against the grain. You'll find your way eventually.

Elysian Moon — Electronica and Deep House producer duo, Tropo (violin) and Jiia (cello and piano) — draws from classical beginnings and love of electronic music creating a cinematic tapestry woven with euphoric beats and a sparkly techno vibe.

ElectraNauts are the newest brain-child from the creators of "Back Eddy And The Procrastinators" and "MOD" from "TheNakedDJ's" and "Old Growth Productions". A fusion band combining live drums, keytar, vocals and live synth by way of Maschine, Roland, and midi Keyboards. 

These tracks are one off jam captures. We are trying to preserve the magic and the journey.

John Rose is a composer working out of Lexington, Kentucky. John has worked for many years doing live radio, outdoor festivals, art openings and planetarium performances. John has been a pioneer of electronic music in Kentucky since the 1970s. He continues to work on solo recordings, and is a sound tech and stage hand. He recently started recording and producing music for other people. John also loves to teach wilderness survival and awareness and has been doing so at camps and workshops around Kentucky and Tennessee.

John Rose’s music is created primarily from his own experiences, what he calls “life’s soundtracks”. He utilizes elements from his diverse musical background, which includes early music (especially the Medieval and pre-Renaissance era), Baroque (owing to his direct musical lineage to J.S. Bach through oral teaching tradition), Middle Eastern Music, Gregorian chant, traditional Celtic and Appalachian music, and experimental electronic music.

Music and musicians who are of interest to John Rose are J.S. Bach, Arvo Part, Tangerine Dream, Dead Can Dance, Gregorian chant, Cantigas de Santa Maria, Alan Stivell, Morton Subotonic, John Jacob Niles, Debussy, and Chopin. He considers Nature and Silence to be the foundation of all music.

John’s music is timeless and pensive, interwoven with images of nature, expressive rhythms, deep space pulses, and industrial ambience. Other compositions contain intricate piano passages dancing across waves of geometric ostinatos.

“Music is structured in silence and has its foundations in the rhythm of nature, out of which springs the language of humanity and reflections of the energy of life. I wish to express this to the listener through my music.”

Derick performs solo as a "One Man Jam Band" by using an audio sampler to record loop tracks ("Live") on his guitar, bass, percussion, and vocals to make the sound of a full band. Recent uploaded tracks are a more production style of music that is completely experimental and made out of the urge to create something without barriers of what can or cannot be performed completely live.

This "One Man Jam Band" has opened up for acts like Gov't Mule, Ekoostik Hookah, Future Rock, and Zac Deputy. He has performed along side acts such as Michael Franti, Keller Williams, The Wailers, Dark Star Orchestra, Arrested Development, and has performed at festivals including Hyperion, Wuhnurth, Springfest, Hoodilidoo, Indiana Jam Bash, Greenstock, River City Rock and Roll Festival, Terrapin Hill Harvest Festival, Hookahnanny, and Hookahville which he has performed at three times now.

Derick has performed at all types of events and venues besides bars and festivals. From coffee/ice cream shops and Cafe's to Restaurants like Apple Bee's, Texas Roadhouse, Max & Erma's, and the Jimmy Buffet chain Cheeseburger In Paradise. As well as events like Weddings and Anniversary's to Private Party's and Hog Roasts. Derick has also done many benefits such as The Relay For Life, The MS Walk, and local community fundraisers.

Although Derick performs mainly around the central and southern Indiana area, he has performed as far east as Miami, FL. and Myrtle Beach, SC. and as far west as Hermosa Beach California.
