Shandy are a five piece-piece rock 'n roll group from Brisbane. They formed at a local soccer match in 2013 when singer JJ Speedball pitched bass player Viktor Guard an idea for a new band. It would be inspired by British "bovver rock", mixed with the Australian "Sharpie" youth subculture from the 1970s. Guard agreed it was a great idea and ordered a round of shandies from the bar to celebrate, thus giving the band their name.

Originally a trio, Shandy expanded to a five-piece and released their debut album "Tough Pucker" in 2015. They toured Europe several times, which led to the release of live album "Live in Rennes" in 2021. They are currently working on their second studio album, "Hard Yakka".

This set you're about to hear was recorded at Blowhard's "The Last Blow" gig.

Between 1972 & 1980 I played in a Swing Trio (rhythm/melody-lead/vocals) I played rhythm....we mainly played from Pasadena - Hollywood & around.....
My main band was my first band that I joined in 1969, I was 16, (drums) but I started playing guitar Summer of 1968 & took my guitar everywhere too learn from anyone who would give me a minute....by 1973 (20 years old) my band leader put me on (rhythm guitar) but by than I was already in the Swing Trio (1972-19 years old) playing tunes from the 1930's 40's 50's....I had a 1947 Gluid with one pick up.
Also by 9/1974 (21 years old) I bought my 2nd Electric Guitar which happen too be a 1972 Fender Telecaster (name it: Lilly).
Through out the 70's I was involved in a handful of projects...so one rehearsal in the back of my Parent's Home in Silverlake, Los Angeles, playing with the neighborhood guys - working on the Blues Tunes...I guess I started playing Swing Licks (major scale) & the Bass Player (Gil) yelled out Hey! you playing that Swing #### again!  The Garage became The Swing Shack, I became Sammy Swing & my 72 Telecaster became: Lilly May Swing, but everyone called (her)Lilly/1980...
No matter what I did or who I played with, I stayed loyal too my first Band Leader (Danny) he wasn't very kind or easy going (smoked/drank) & would antagonize me at rehearsals, gigs & always wanting too know who else & where I was playing if not with him, by 1988 we had finished an album/recording session & as soon as we walked out the door (Sierra Madre) he told me I was fired....I played with (Danny) from 1969 - 1988, he never payed me for all those hours nor did I care, maybe I owed that too him, he took me in when I was nothing.
Between Johan - (band leader of the Swing Trio) & Danny - (Nat King Cole too the Rolling Stones & Danny's Orginial's), these two guys spent many hours teaching me the art of Rhythm Guitar....more too come...
