Obsession Sessions IV is a Disco-themed concept I've been putting together for ages. This was one of the few planned mixes I've ever played out at Sublime Sundays. I tried recording Obsession Sessions IV in one take a few times, and songs would randomly be corrupted; but others that weren't corrupted on previous takes would be corrupted on subsequent takes. I know--super important detail. Obsession Sessions IV--like the other mixes in the OS series--is 60 tracks and about 4.5 hours long. Not sure what it is about the number 60, but the puzzle pieces always fit for me. I dunno--this last detail is pretty important. . .

This is the tail end of OS IV when I decided to break it into pieces and splice/ merge them together in Logic Pro. The first and second ends were recorded at subsequent days at Gelato Vero for Rise Ritual and the last day of Sublime Saturdays. I'd been working on this theme for three years; and I finally nailed down the format in a way that makes sense to me.

It all fit under a lttle, bittersweet bow. The theme of OS is long, layered transitions and all of them (besides OS I) are mixed in complementary keys. This adds a special, harmonic element that makes me obsess on them when I complete them. They also need to be a certain level of quality for me not to cringe. This one, in particular, is the last of the series I'm going to complete for a while, if ever. All of them were concepts I'd been thinking about and compiling for a few years. You need to know that I was highly critical of everything until it just snapped together. The few parts that I picked up to be less-than-perfect are acceptable; especially since I only gave myself a few bars to ready a lot of the following transitions. I pushed myself.

Welcome to the last morning of Rise Ritual in San Diego's iconic Gelato Vero Caffe. Good friends in attendance and the rich smell of coffee and pastries made it a memorable send off with an outstanding sunrise. On our second-to-last day we continued with another rare planned set. This is the middle portion of Obsession Sessions IV, the last of that series for a long time. It's Disco-themed, mixed in complementary keys, and has long-layered transitions. The concept has been in the works for three years, and I am so happy to put it out into the world from my head. I've been resting much easier. Just one Sublime Saturday to go for the send-off. Thank you to everyone who came to dance it off before your work day.

Pastel Pagan threw down for us (and well) on the last Sublime Saturday at Gelato Vero for the season. We're so grateful she was available. I had a rare planned set, which is the first of three parts that I spliced and merged together to complete my last Obsession Session for a while, if ever again. As the son of a professional flamenco singer, Thomas has always been surrounded by music.  Exposure to flamenco influenced him because it has a dynamic range of emotions—from the "deep singing" style of cante hondo, to the more lively alegrias.  He has also worked in the corporate, independent, and online music industry for a number of years.  At one point he was a Content Manager for the Electronic Music genre at MP3.com, where he screened over 500 songs per day.  Exposure to a wide range of music explains the range of genres in his mixes—he uses whatever carries the mood.  From listening to Umm Kulthum's "Enta Omri" in his childhood, to New Wave and  Industrial as a teen, it became difficult for him to stick to one sound. Though vinyl was his original format of choice when he started in the 90s, the use of digital mixing has helped him better form soundscapes to expand your headspace.  Let him play with your moods for a spell.

Let yourself be carried away by the hard and industrial techno sound of the 1993 born Berliner "JAPAU”. His style is characterised by driving and pushing baselines but also hard kicks that shape his unique industrial sound. You can expect an audiophile listening pleasure in the dB limit range!

JAPAUs passion for techno flared up in 2013 when he accidentally ended up at a techno party in Berlin's famous "Arena Club". He never intended to start making music himself, he was just a passionate listener. 
But then one day in 2019, a friend brought over a controller, and he gave it a try.

From that moment on, he was completely hooked.

Since 2025, he has also started producing tracks to further shape the style he wants to pursue.
