My second published lofi track. For a long  time I've wanted to use an oboe sound in a track and this is the result, though to be exact it's a layered oboe, soprano sax and a Polymoog. I feel that the texture ended up being not as lofi as the Moon and Mist, but I really like how pretty the melodies turned out.

About the title. I ended up finishing this track in a period of turmoil in my private life, as I suddenly lost a job and had to look for another one - and I am literally publishing this track a day before starting the new position. As I was thinking about the title for the track I reflected on that transitory, liminal state I was in - being suspended between the end of one stage of life and the beginning of another. I realised that, perhaps unconsciously, I have written melodies that fit that theme, so the title of the piece should reflect that.

In my music I am trying to blend elements of jazz, like improvisation, loose, swinging rhythms and complex harmonies with elements of electronic music, such as tonal expression, sound design, advanced production techniques and love of vintage electronic instruments. That's where the name Silicon on Sapphire comes from, silicon being the symbol of electronics and modernity and sapphire being the symbol of something beautiful and kind of blue ;) Also, it is a name of a lesser know process of electronics manufacturing, so it's a bit of an obscure pun.

My chosen genre of choice for delivering that mix of ideas is Lofi Hip Hop, through I tend to push the genre's boundaries a bit - for one, rather than beats, I create beat based instrumental songs in which I like to include jazz-style improvisations.
