This was probably the last track that I wrote before moving to Singapore wrote it with Dave round his house - round the elephant and it’s it was a song with fair bit of quite heavy guitar mainly played by Dave and a few other bits and pieces on synths from me. 

I named it after the hotel that I’d stayed in in Singapore a couple months earlier when I’d done a reccy.  But really I knew because I’ve discussed with Emma if we had a baby girl we’d call her Scarlett which of course we did - about three years later in Singapore. 

So 15 years later as with Men in the other tracks around this time, I am finally getting around to finishing it this time with a bit of an overhaul, adding new vocals. I actually got rid of most of the synths and redid them with some new sounds. I changed the drums completely and the whole arrangement. But the heart of it remains - which is Dave’s pretty awesome guitar playing.

Another One

A slow-burn almost Taylor-like pop tune.  Made from the remenants of a synth jam 16-bar sequence from about 2012.


So quite a remake really.  it's a sad, but optimistic, yet tragic song.  if you can get to when the vocals kick in!

Cover art was inspired by a Verve EP cover that had a vending machine selling smotions.  Here we have a whole supermarket of the future letting yuo change whatever your heart desires. (and your bank balance can afford).

this is a remake of a track that was half finished c2012/13 when first in Singapore.  It was named after the place my then wife went to work.  a brilliant research agency that sadly fell foul of bad management from london.
anyhow, most of the flamingoes who were there then have gone on to have great careers. so it was certainly a nest of excellence.

the track - strangely poppy and happy.  but i wasn't when i wrote it. and i don't think i am now on the rewrite.  enjoy!!

The first track from the 2007 album Strangely Familiar, remade in 2025.  1st probably because it starts with 'A'.  this was never a proper track - written in about 40 mins originally.  hence the name.

a bit more love has gone into it 18 years later.  A bit.  not a lot.  but not a little either.  more love went into the cover art i reckon....

from the 2007 album Strangely Familiar - when I went all Indie and thought i might play glastonbury one day.  that day hasn't arrived.  and is quite unlikley.

2025 remake - keeping the main gist of the indie song.  finding vocals to fit was incredibly hard fr a change.

i remember now that i was listening a lot to over and over by hot chip.  you can hear it in the guitars at the end...
