This is from the 2007 album ‘switching you on’. I’d just bought the Arturia collection so every track was full of it. The original of this  got into the moog modular. I also got guitar rig from native instruments so there’s suddenly lots of guitar with ambient and electro fx like gating on it. 

This 2025 remake sticks to the original in the main. Added vocals. Reworked bass. And some additional Roland Jupiter synths bring some breadth and texture. 

Taking Control. Ha. The common theme of who’s in control of my life and attempting to make it me. 18 years later and nothings changed much. 

Taking Control II

A pretty full to the rafters track from 2019. One of those that has every track on freeze coz the processing is too much. That’ll be the excellent but greedy diva synth then. 

The original was quite well arranged - just badly mixed. So just a bit of tidying up. A few extra bits of ear candy in there.  From dub, dubstep and drum & bass.

The song is about people using you for your mind. And warning them they might more than they bargain for. That resonated well. 

Didn't See That Coming II

The last track on 2019’s ‘Take Everything’. Though not the last one to be remastered. 

This rework in 2025 has tweaks to get in tune finally, extra vox and some rebalancing. With a bit of ear candy and some gangster dialogue in keeping with other tracks from this period. 

The title comes from the cover art which is a nighttime shot from my balcony onto public housing in Singapore called the pinnacle. There’s a running track on the 25th floor that goes around and connects the different blocks. I’m just about level with it. From early morning before daybreak to late at night, I can see people running. Normally I am much more sedentary. 

I watch them running, being busy and getting seen whilst I’m hidden in plain sight. I like to think they’re just going round in circles getting nowhere. But they’re still getting fitter. Maybe happier and more productive. And they never notice me. 

The song is about trying to love yourself.

Another day, another song about falling, which seems to be a common theme of mine.

This was originally on the 2019 album Take Everything. It wasn’t a bad version, but it seemed quite quiet and there were a few glitches in it. So here in 2025 I’ve redone it, reworked it and added some extra female vocal harmonies just to lift it a little bit - dare i say it, make it more poppy.  

I’m sure the original lyrics are probably about falling in love.  This song isn’t. This song is about falling.  Falling into some sort of abyss. I guess I’m hoping that somebody might notice and pull me out.  I'm still waiting yeah maybe...   

Watch Me Fall

A audio journey into a dystopian future where the computers rule everything and how pretty you are determines how wonderful your life is.  An episode of Black Mirror?  Or just the reality of today?
A short, stripped back reworking of You Don’t Get it.  Because I wanted 8 tracks not 7.  And I wanted to use this artwork.  No extras added here from the 2025 version of you don’t get it.  Just took out the main vocals, and did a simple, yet funky arrangement!

Pretty U

This one has an interesting back story. I was asked to write some music for the new vision and training programme where at worked. Which was Carat in London. The core of it was 3 ‘Cs’. I can’t remember what they were though. Communication, consumer, culture or something probably. 

Anyhow I wrote a couple of versions, including a short sting to be used as a mobile ringtone. Yes it was those times when I had Blue Monday playing out of my Nokia or Motorola. I don’t know if anyone ever had it as a ringtone. Hmmm. 

2025 - added some gloriously uplifting vocals which have nothing to do with the 3 C’s. Or three seas. The AI cover art tries to capture a few Carat legendary memories - by the sea of course. 

Three Seas

This was written in my last few months living in East dulwich in London,  before I moved to Singapore in early 2010. I was going for a kind of dance Ibiza balearic style beat with a sort of lazy sunny feel.  it was another song that was nearly there but never quite finished.

So now 15 years later in 2025 I’ve finally got back to it. I’ve re-worked it re-thought it. it always had some guitars on it. Now found new guitar sounds a few counterpoint melodies that seemed to work quite well here.

Is it last days still?  well if it is last days it’s not of living in a place. it’s perhaps of the industry in which I work which seems to be crumbling down. Advertising for so long has been ripping off clients and not providing a genuinely good service and now it’s come home to roost as AI has dispelled and destroyed the ‘magic’ that charged at a premium.  I feel almost any week that goes by my job could disappear. Not because I don’t do a good job but because of the industry around me - in which I am complicit, has focused on fueling its own egos rather than actually helping clients and brands grow.

So Last days, indeed.  
Of the modern Roman Empire perhaps. 

Last Days II

Another track originally written about the same time as last days back in 2009, 2010. Again this song was trying to have echoes of Ibizan sand and nightclubbing in San Antonio.  

And again it felt like a track that I never really finished - because, I had to start packing and go to Singapore , so I pick it up 15 years later and finally put some love into it. Adding vocals, reworking the bass. And adding a touch of the erm rather familiar to it.

As with most of my music.  -it’s maximum maximalism to the max.

Lots And Lots II

Another remake of a track from late 2009. Actually quite pleased with this one. The original had potential but as usual I hadn’t finished it properly. 

There’s some glitches and pops on the bass. But maybe I’m just used to them … but i kept them in rather than spend hours and potentially ruin the mix.
