Happy Halloween! We've transformed into "A Star to SPOOK Her By" this week as we take a look at a cult sci-fi horror classic. But this one has a quite explicit "Star Trek" connection in the form of Jeffrey Combs! But unlike his many "Trek" appearances, he's not behind makeup, just the respectable spectacles of Herbert West, the titular "Re-Animator". It's the film's 40th anniversary, so no better year to check it out! It's a movie that starts spooky and escalates quickly into ever-mounting craziness, culminating in a completely daft and brilliantly schlocky climax!
Also this week: an alternate title, a feline turning point, and trying to stage it.

Her eyes the void where dead galaxies hide.

No mortal hand may touch her silver hair,
Nor tongue confess the secret of her name;
Yet when the Veil grows thin and Realms decay,
She sings—and Chaos trembles at her flame.

Her voice, a hymn of spider-silk and sighs,
Weaves dreams into the marrow of the night;
Men hear, and follow through the veiled skies,
Beguiled by beauty, blind to coming blight.

She dances where the fractured dimensions bleed,
A huntress draped in sorrow and in grace;

Cthulhu Mysteries: Veins of Arkham - Funeral

Based on H.P. Lovecraft's poem "Hallowe'en in a Suburb", which was published as "In a Suburb" in The National Amateur, March 1926.

Lyrics:

The steeples are white in the wild moonlight,
And the trees have a silver glare;
Past the chimneys high see the vampires fly,
And the harpies of upper air,
That flutter and laugh and stare.

For the village dead to the moon outspread
Never shone in the sunset's gleam,
But grew out of the deep that the dead years keep
Where the rivers of madness stream
Down the gulfs to a pit of dream.

Not a breath of the strange grey gods of change
That tore from the past its own
Can quicken this hour, when a spectral power
Spreads sleep o'er the cosmic throne,

Rowena Hardgrove was a librarian and investigator, successful leader of a team dedicated to defending mankind from the Horror of the mythos, until her world was torn apart.

She was the only survivor of a case gone bad, wracked with guilt and a desire for revenge. Part of her wanted to quit, put the horrors behind her and life a quiet peaceful life.

While another part of her burned for vengeance, as the creatures who killed her friends, a collection of entities called themselves the Night Parade, we're still out there.

She quit her job, cut herself off from friends and family, and vanished.

However, she is one of the only people the investigators know of who might be able to save Harper Twilight, and break him free of the dark bargain he forged with Eihort

Can the investigators find her in time to save the doomed blues singer?
