Minimal Techno/IDM/Microhouse/Ambient/Experimental Mix

This week we welcomed budding friend and otherworldly selector Meagan Dreams to Sublime Saturdays at Gelato Vero Caffe. I knew she would honor the profound creative energy of the place with her tasteful, familiar, and novel offerings. Do yourself a favor and just look at her track selection below. She oscillated between genres and artists to both stimulate attendees and complement the laidback vibe. It was a masterful selection; well thought out and lovingly delivered. It tracks that she has played vinyl at so many record stores, listening rooms, and radio shows. She's got it all in more ways than one. Hopefully a return tour in the future.

Most of her tracks are now on our priority shopping list. The quality of selection and progression is mind-bending. Hearing new music changes everything, doesn't it? Leading into her set was resident Thomas Fitzgerald, offering up a low-BPM Dark House/ Disco sound for all of the lovelies in attendance. He's getting better at combating the glare. It's a small price to pay for such a pristine San Diego sunset from one of the best places in the city to witness it.

Eelco’s taste in music has always been diverse. He has been passionate about music from an early age, drawn to a wide range of sounds, from indie, rock, metal, jazz to hip-hop and drum & bass. But everything changed when he experienced his first AWAKENINGS techno event in Amsterdam over 20 years ago. That day, he had an epiphany! The pulsating energy, the hypnotic rhythms they were a calling.
From that moment on, he became addicted to the raw, driving force of Techno and Electro.
"The first time I stepped into a warehouse and FELT that hard bass, those hissing  sharp hi-hats, and the deep, hypnotic groove of proper Techno, I knew I had come home!"
Ever since then he wanted to share his unrelenting passion for TECHNO with the world!

Joe has been been trying to craft the perfect transition between two records for the last 30 years,  one day he'll get there but until then,  welcome to the official home of Brutal Willis where we specialise in the exclusive currency of Global Electronic Soul. 

I managed Vinyl Frontier Records in Woking,  Surrey for the best part of a decade..... living, breathing,  loving and sharing repetitive beats.   I have been fortunate enough to grace the platters at lots of different clubs,  events and festivals up and down the country and Europe.  I co ran the legendary night "Shuffle" (which may come back one day).  I won the coveted "bedroom bedlam" mixtape award for Muzik magazine, residencies at the Cross, The Pool , Piranah's and 333 in London and was awarded the Percy Thrower Lifetime achievement award for services to the green plant.  I have played at Glastonbury, The Big Chill, Kimberley, Orchard amongst  many others and more recenly a regular fixture at the Give ! festival for House of Honey.   These day's I can be found deep in stock pots working culinary magic for all kinds of people,  however you may still catch me behind the platters (that matter) as much as I can.  I love music with a captivating groove, a glowing warmth,  sincerity and emotion however it comes and still relish the opportunity to share my sounds manually through the medium we know as Vinyl.  As long as it's available I will continue to support it,  everything about it just works and I believe it helps strengthen our beloved scene.

As the son of a professional flamenco singer, Thomas has always been surrounded by music.  Exposure to flamenco influenced him because it has a dynamic range of emotions—from the "deep singing" style of cante hondo, to the more lively alegrias.  He has also worked in the corporate, independent, and online music industry for a number of years.  At one point he was a Content Manager for the Electronic Music genre at MP3.com, where he screened over 500 songs per day.  Exposure to a wide range of music explains the range of genres in his mixes—he uses whatever carries the mood.  From listening to Umm Kulthum's "Enta Omri" in his childhood, to New Wave and  Industrial as a teen, it became difficult for him to stick to one sound. Though vinyl was his original format of choice when he started in the 90s, the use of digital mixing has helped him better form soundscapes to expand your headspace.  Let him play with your moods for a spell.

Genre agnostic DJ from Glasgow. Plenty of house, Italo, kosmische, post-punk, EBM, ambient, funk, rock, techno and beyond. No borders, just vibes.
