Vinyl Destination Presents the second , vinyl only volume of original productions, collaborations, co-productions (Yves Deruyter) and remixes from Mike Dierickx aka M.I.K.E. Push. Born in Antwerp, Belgium but now a resident of New York City, M.I.K.E. is without a doubt one of the greatest Trance producers of all time. His productions under a plethora of different pseudonyms and aliases are instantly recognisable. Arguably his most famous track, Universal Nation has been awarded gold status in Belgium for selling 25,000 and 100million streams.

Volume 1 of my M.I.K.E. Push showcase can be found in my "Artist Showcases" play list. That mix features all of the classic Push tunes and some of his more familiar remixes. Volume 2 (this mix) therefore naturally explores somre of his lesser known tracks and remixes and a few more of his earlier productions. I've tried to keep a flow to it as I do with all my mixes ending with some of darker more pounding tunes.

It's not a perfect mix but it is vinyl only and I'm very happy with it and how it compliments volume 1.

I hope anybody who gives it a listen enjoys it.

Cutting it a bit fine but finally got round to recording a mix to mark 25 years since 1999, considered by some to be the greatest year in Trance music. 

I've decided against a mix full of the obvious classics and instead opted to try and progress a mix using tracks that maybe fly under the radar when it comes to discussing tunes from 1999. Your household names are still here like Ferry Corsten, Lange, M.I.K.E. Push and Matt Darey but they are joined by some absolutely stunning tracks like Dimension, Wide Eyed Angel and Optica. Of course it wouldn't really be a mix of mine without some of the tougher stuff at the end.

It is of course 100% vinyl only and, for the avoidance of any doubt, the criteria to meet the mix was the record I own had to have 1999 marked on Discogs as the year of release. Simple! The tracks that made the cut are listed below. Enjoy. Lewis. x

I had a pile of new tunes that I hadn't played in a mix before so built a mix around them using some other tracks that I feel aren't played enough or are maybe a bit under rated. This is the result, just over 80 minutes of classic Trance. Track listing below, probably a bit of prime Tiesto influence in there on reflection but that's definitely not a bad thing.

A brief insight: Vinyl DJ and resident for Timewarp in Bournemouth. My story is as follows:

Having been exposed to electronic music from the age I had ears, I suppose it was inevitable that I've taken the musical path that I have. Growing up listening to artists such as Human League, Visage, Duran Duran, OMD, Jean Michel Jarre, Mike Oldfield, Vangelis etc when the Trance boom came around in the 1990s I was sold. Whilst my school friends listened to Brit Pop. Indie or Hip Hop, I immersed myself in hundreds of dance compilations from the likes of Ministry of Sound & Nukleuz. Still far to young to venture out clubbing I played every compilation to death.

Once I'd turned 18 I found myself at The Opera House in Bournemouth every Friday for Slinky. The music policy was pretty simple but very spectacular: THE finest Trance and Hard House DJs on the planet! Every DJ you'd ever care to mention that was making a noise within those genres during the early noughties played at Slinky. It was Mauro Picotto though who caught my attention the most. Famed perhaps for his Trance anthems such as Lizard, Iguana & Pulsar, it was his ability to crossover into the Techno field that interested me. His Nukleuz compilation "The Lizard Man" is a prime example of this and that led me to his compilation released a year later titled Metamorphose.

Fast forward 5 years and 2 trips to Ibiza in the summer of 2007 convinced me that the Trance scene had gone stale and it was time to focus on the other constant in my musical life: Techno. Picotto's Metamorphose compilation was littered with tracks linked to Picotto (productions, remixes or signed to the BXR imprint) but the standout tracks were Electric Deluxe - Electric Deluxe, Devilfish - Manalive & Chris Liebing - CLR 07.

After 10+ years dabbling with Techno, I found myself back at the beginning. In April 2019 and before everybody started digging their 1210s out the loft during COVID, I decided to go back to basis and re-ignite my love for all things Trance and vinyl and launch a mix project titled Vinyl Destination. I've been doing that for 5 years and now decided to bring all those mixes into one place here on Soundcloud.

Most recently I’ve become a resident for the rapidly growing vinyl only night Timewarp based in Bournemouth. Prior to that I played at a few local nights here and there and held a residency for 2 years on an online Trance radio station called Trancemixers that then morphed into a website called Electronic Mixes. By all means I'd love to play out at a variety of parties so if upon listening to anything I post you think I can provide a soundtrack to a party then please get in touch :-) I'll just need a set of 1210s to play on!
