June '25 brings the sixth #lemon12 single, a track that asks, "If I didn’t have my music, where would I be?" Written after a tough year for the songwriter and inspired by the turmoil in today’s world. The lyrics resonated with every band member. Lemon has since embraced the song’s message as their mantra.

Lemon - Music Is My Lifeline

Our fifth episode leaps forward to the rave scene of the early 90s, ironically taking its name from a line in the Criminal Justice Act 1994 - an explicit attempt by the post-Thatcher Tory government to shut down the scene.

Acid house, smiling faces and collective expression freed from the shackles of societal expectations characterised the rave counterculture of the late 80s. Into the early 90s, it became defined by new styles like breakbeat hardcore, jungle techno and trance. These are the predominant focus of this episode, though we also flirt with a bit of "Madchester", dub techno & ambient house.

We conclude with the first track to be recognised as jungle. The great DJ Randall championed that track and was instrumental to the rise of jungle drum n bass. This one's for you, Randall. Rest in power.
