In the summer of 2024 I was lucky to be invited for a two week residency at the famous Manny’s Restaurant and Jazz Bar just off Sunset Boulevard. The band was a pickup deal but I had worked with Marv once a few years before and he and Gram had been sparring partners since their college days. It was a line up that I knew would jump.
We decided on a program penned by the great Henry Mancini. Who doesn’t love Hank’s effortless gift for melody, fun and soulfulness? It turned out to be a good call and we spent an enjoyable two days piecing together our favorite numbers and working up arrangements that suited the trio format.
It turned out to be a good call and from the opening night there was a buzz around Manny’s.
By the end of the first week the buzz was spreading far and wide and there were offers of further engagements. I had to split not long after the two weeks so most of the offers were sadly declined but we were able to fit in a weekend of music and surf along the coast at the Paradise Cove Beach Cafe up in Malibu.
The four tracks presented here were recorded live, two at each venue, and I hope they will give you a taste of what the trio is about and the vibe that was so special at both those beautiful places.

The Volumo platform continues its exclusive series via its Direct imprint with a two- track EP courtesy of French artist Mancini.
Mancini offer up his latest works via Volumo Direct and up first is ‘Innocence’, a dreamy deep house excursion through twitchy acid sequences, airy atmospherics, bouncy bass tones and hypnotic vocal chants, underpinned by crisp, swinging drums.
The aptly titled ‘Floater’ follows next, once again employing squelchy acid licks alongside oscillating pad swells, fluttering synth melodies and a bumpy rhythm section.

From Paris, France, Mancini has always been attracted by music. First inspired by Rock, he started playing guitar in a band, and then slowly discovered electronic music at the end of the 90's. The idea of playing his own music selection and making people dance was dangerously growing in his mind! In 2001, a meeting on a beach will convince him to buy his turntables. Through the years, his style matured. Gimmick, sensibility but mostly rhythms define the best his House music vision! His dj sets are a spontaneous mixture of grooves fuelled by his crowd’s reaction. He has played alongside famous djs as Jamie Jones, Dyed Soundorom, Miss Kittin, Archie Hamilton, iO Mulen, Cab Drivers, Diego Krause, Robert Owens, Losoul... In september 2016, in a desire of pure freedom, he decided to launch his own vinyl label simply named “Mancini”. Handstamped and limited releases, its have reached the first places on the vinyls charts of Deejay, Decks shops several times and been played by the likes of Apollonia, Enzo Siragusa, Archie Hamilton, Seb Zito, Ferro, Djebali, Chris Carrier... He is now managing and promoting with Wlad the vinyl and digital label hedZup records, that is knowing a great ascension in the Minimal House world.

No accurate depiction of electronic music culture would be complete without special mention of Deborah De Luca. Widely acknowledged as one of the most prominent flag-bearers for Techno globally and a regular fixture inside the world’s most distinguished DJ booths, Deborah has the unique ability to transfix crowds with her electrically charged, technically nuanced sets, fusing hard techno with minimal grooves and melodic soundscapes to absorbing effect. A pioneer in the use of social networks as a promotional tool, whilst somehow managing to retain a strong sense of discretion in her private life, Deborah is unrivalled in her determination and passion, earning every part of her current status as one of the most exciting talents to emerge from the international Techno scene over the past decade.
Born under the shade of the infamous Vele di Scampia – one of the toughest districts in Naples – the now-globally recognised DJ, producer and label head came from humble beginnings, forging her path to international success against unlikely odds. However this was to become her making. “You shouldn’t let anybody tell you what you can or can’t become”, she expounded in a rare interview, referencing her early livelihood as a nightclub dancer. “It’s true, in recent years I have gained popularity, but I am very grateful for the long journey it’s taken”. More than anything else, Deborah’s roots and her unwavering ethic are an integral part of the flourishing artist we see before us today.
Deborah spent the formative years of her musical career in Northern Italy, following a brief stint at fashion school in Modena. Cutting her teeth on the European club circuit, where she quickly realised music was her true calling, Deborah’s hard work and relentless determination eventually began to pay off and in 2013 she launched her very own imprint Sola_mente Records. Created as a platform by which to release her own music, free from creative pressure and external constraints, the label went from strength to strength and in November 2018, Deborah marked a decade-long career in the industry with the critically acclaimed release of her debut album ‘Ten’. A huge milestone for the Italian producer, ‘Ten’ represented an important rite of passage and a body of work that she would cherish indefinitely.

Devon Goldberg (aka Devon E. Levins) is a composer, producer, musician and founding member of New York City-based MORRICONE YOUTH which performs and records live scores to silent films and midnight movies. Devon has been a bandleader, DJ and avid soundtrack record collector since the 1980s performing and recording with Creedle (Cargo/Headhunter), aMiniature (Restless), rust (Atlantic), Pretendo (Country Club) and 80s hardcore band Abeyance, amongst others, and produces and hosts weekly "film soundtrack" radio programs MORRICONE YOUTH conceived in 2007 on EAST VILLAGE RADIO and MORRICONE ISLAND on WFMU 91.1 FM in New York City and New Jersey (2014-2024). In 2019, Devon composed the original score for director Kire Paputt's second feature length film The Last Porno Show, which premiered at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival. The score was performed by Morricone Youth with help from Cochemea Gastelum, Sean McCaul, Karen Waltuch and Scott Hollingsworth. 

Morricone Youth is a collective of musicians formed in New York City in 1999 with the mission statement to compose and re-interpret "music written for the moving image" (i.e. film and television soundtracks and library music) who have performed all over the world, from CBGB's and the top of the World Trade Center to the Brooklyn Academy of Music, MassMoCA, Philadelphia Museum of Art, San Diego Museum of Art and The Sydney Festival as well as supporting Italian prog soundtrack legends Goblin on their 2017 North American tour. The band has live scored fifteen silent films and midnight movies including Nosferatu, Enter The Dragon, Foxy Brown, Eraserhead and La Planete Sauvage and in 2016 embarked on an ambitious 15-vinyl series for each film, the 1st seven of which have been released for George Miller's "Mad Max," Goerge Romero's "Night of the Living Dead," F.W. Murnau's "Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans," Lotte Reineger's "The Adventures of Prince Achmed," Mario Bava's "Danger: Diabolik," Alfred Hitchock's "The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog" and Sergei Eisenstein's "Battleship Potemkin." The band's music has been used in film, television, documentaries and video games over the past 25 years. 

In 2024, Devon composed the score to psychological horror film Eight Eyes from director Austin Jennings (director/co-writer of Shudder’s The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs) which world premiered at the 2023 Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal, shot on 16mm and Super 8 on location in Serbia and Macedonia and starring Scream Queen Emily Sweet (V/H/S ‘99). The original score is composed by Devon Goldberg and performed by Morricone Youth featuring Sami Stevens (Sunnyside Records, Norah Jones) on vocals. The film was co-produced by Vinegar Syndrome as the Blu-ray reissue label’s first entirely original production and is distributed by Shudder in North America and Donau Film in Europe. Clark Ford is an award-winning songwriter from California, living in Iowa. He writes songs in several genres, including pop, country, rock, sacred, Celtic, jazz, and blues. He released his first album (pop/country/rock relationship songs) in 2018 entitled "In My Heart," and his second album (country, pop, and sacred anthems) entitled "Anthem" in 2019. Awards include: The pop song "Spiderwebs in My Hair!" (winner of the 2018 Dallas Songwriters Association award for Novelty song and also winner of the 2018 Hollywood Song Contest for Halloween song); and the country songs "I Don't Want to Work Today"(semi-finalist in the 2018 Song of the Year contest), and "I'll Be Your Rock" (semi-finalist in the International Song Contest, 2018). Many of Clark's songs are featured in a series of full-length musicals he has written, set in each of the last 6 decades. Clark's songs have been professionally recorded at a studio in Nashville.
