Le Jeu de rapidité #3

On considère souvent que les mathématiques sont la matière reine, celle qui ouvre toutes les portes et où seuls les meilleurs réussissent. Mais pourquoi cette discipline a-t-elle tant d’importance ? Et d’où viennent notre intérêt et nos compétences en maths ? Est-ce inscrit dans nos cerveaux ou dans nos gènes ? À partir d’une enquête sociologique auprès de lycéennes, Clémence Perronnet, sociologue, chercheuse à l’Agence Phare rattachée au Centre Max Weber, montrera que la réussite en maths n’a rien d’inné : elle est le résultat de rapports sociaux. Sexisme, élitisme, racisme… La sélection par les maths est finalement bien moins neutre qu’elle n’en a l’air.

Just a quick after work dub techno inspired jam. 

Practice Practice Practice... maybe I'll get enough skills to perform a live jam a set out in the wild again. Been a while since Phoenix Landing and Electric Highway live sets.

Setup is pretty straightforward here.
All Drums just 1 pattern on the TR-8S, a few faders nudged up/down to bring in the parts. Need to do more here with additional alt patterns and more probability to steps.

For the Synth lead, just running Braids through a Mosaic 1U filter and out to Sealegs for delay/verb. 
Braids is sequenced by TB-3PO hemisphere applet off an Ornaments & Crime (Phaserville Firmware of course). Some modulation of the VCA with Maths for that funky envelope groove and Ochd for subtle Braids Timbre / Color manipulation.

A little manual control of the TB-3P0 with the WMD 4TTEN for slight pitch and note density in the pattern.

Sounds pretty full with just these few modules and certainly could have continued evoloving the patch, but thought that this lil groove sounded cool enough as is and wanted to capture one performance.

A first draft attempt to convert the logistic map bifurcation diagram to sound.  The logistics map is f(x)=4Ax(1-x) where A is a real parameter between 0 and 1.  In this draft, the value of A is associated with time: as time goes forward, A ranges from 0.65 to 1 (in general for the logistics map it is reasonable to consider A from 0 to 1, but the sound is very simple and changes slow for A less than 0.65, so I've left that out).  For each A value, many x values are chosen and many iterations of f(x) are applied; the end result is used to calculate a frequency (linearly determined between 100 and 4100 hz) for a sound event at the time corresponding to the A value.

IQ Meen Im a Genius

I am learning to use Reason and asked Claude to write a mathematically dense drum track for me to practice with. I loaded the MIDI into reason, created a bunch of instruments, added some more tracks and got this. I think it kinda works, depending on what you are going for.
