Originally released in 1991, "Mentasm" is one of many songs Joey Beltram made in collaboration with his friend and fellow producer, Edmundo Perez (a.k.a. Mundo Muzique). The seminal collaboration is one of the most recognizable and influencial songs in the techno scene, and it has now been remixed by me. 

I took a very modern and acid approach to the arrangement and sound selection, refreshing the track and getting a club ready sound out of it.

And as always, I own no right to the song, it's just a remix made to be played on my own sets.

PROSLACKERS officially formed around 1999 and consisted of three like minded youths from the darkest depths of Devon.

Pro-Boy (producer) and DJ Hell Yeah (producer/DJ) had both been making tracks since the mid 90s, but didn't start collaborating together until several years later. Towards the late 90s I was frequently hanging out with the pair of them; digging for samples and adding cuts over their tunes etc. After a while we decided to give ourselves a collective name - something that represented our approach to life, and we were professional when it came to doing the bare minimum!

Individually we were into lots of different music. Me & Pro-Boy really liked Oldskool Breakbeat Techno and Jungle, but got fully immersed in underground Hip-Hop by the end of the millennium. DJ Hell Yeah was well into underground Hip-Hop and also liked to dabble with a bit of DnB. As a result, you can’t really pigeon hole what PROSLACKERS were making - it was all sorts of crazy stuff.

If my memory is right, this PROSLACKERS oldskool rave mix was recorded in early 2004 using two Technics 1210 turntables, a Vestax PMC-06 mixer and Native Instruments TRAKTOR. The DVS software back then (when it first came out) was a bit glitchy, but we didn't care. Simply being able to do vinyl mixes with the tunes Pro-Boy and DJ Hell Yeah had produced was mind blowing at the time. This mix features mostly Pro-Boy tracks.

Now I think back, in the summer of 2004 a similar PROSLACKERS set was played at a party near Winkleigh through Skinners 10K rig.... Anyway, fast forward 20 years and a CD has emerged that just had to be shared. It needed a bit of clean up though, cos of all the TRAKTOR pops & crackles. To do it justice, this is a remastered version - an anniversary edition!

Gotta give a huge shout to @Pro-Boy (aka Brian Pro) and @Slazy-beats (aka DJ Hell Yeah)...Big Ups...PROSLACKERS for life. x

Ian Martin Meyer, better known as Meyer, is a brazilian producer from São Paulo. He started releasing music early in his music career, getting his first breakthrough when signing his first contract with a label, to release his track "Alcatraz Island". Shortly after, he signed with CCTN5, a techno label from his hometown, releasing his song "Tribe", along with other songs from artists like Binaryh (Afterlife). Having recently released his biggest record yet with Natura Viva, a home to artists like ANNA (Drumcode), Joris Voorn (Anjunadeep) and Format:B (Toolroom), he is definitely on the rise as a producer. Lately, he's been involved with trying out new styles outside of Melodic Techno, and new releases are soon to come. In the end, Meyer is all about one thing: music.
