MILLENIUM SAUCE: 00/10s Dance Music

The first in a series of old mixes/sets of mine that I'm ripping from old CDs/Hard drives that have all been in storage for 20+ years, hopefully a snapshot of what Trance was like back then.

This was chucked together sometime in the early 2000s as a demo to send into Beat 106 FM here in Glasgow Scotland , a nice energetic selection of uplifting bangers with no fillers etc that hits the ground running and never really lets up, hope you enjoy it.

Tomcraft is an artist I've always liked... unfortunately he passed away prematurely, a few years ago! How can we forget among his songs... Loneliness and Into The Light... he was an absolute genius and could still have created fabulous hits! Freed From Desire foi lançada em 1997, pela cantora Italiana Gala Rizzatto, mais conhecida como Gala. Hit de estilo Eurodance com refrões que grudam nos ouvidos, onde a letra fala de de uma pessoa que não é movida por dinheiro e nem bens materiais, uma pessoa livre de necessidades superficiais, satisfeito com o que é, não com o que tem.

A Música foi hit, alcançando o top 10 no Reino Unido, Islândia, Holanda, Irlanda, Itália e Dinamarca, e alcançando o primeiro lugar na França e na Bélgica.

Através do Futebol, Freed From Deisire retornou em 2016 durante a Eurocopa. Torcedores da Irlanda do Norte, criaram uma versão personalizada “  Will Grigg’s On Fire”, para homenagear o Jogador Will Grigg e acabou viralizando, afinal a música é simples, pegajosa e fácil de adaptar.

Gala continuou gravando e, em 2021, lançou a música "Parallel Lines", que conta a história de um casal que está se afastando, embora ainda viva junto. 

Aos 49 anos, Gala vive atualmente em Brooklyn, em situação bastante simples.  Ela mesma admite que não tem segurança financeira para comprar um imóvel. Segundo entrevistas, ela disse que: “vive como nômade”, hospedando-se em quartos alugados por amigos e mudando-se com frequência. 

Gala conta que foi roubada de royalties e "aproveitada" por 30 anos, tendo assinado "um acordo muito injusto" com um produtor inescrupuloso chamado Max Moroldo( do selo Do It Yourself), que detinha os direitos de todos os royalties derivados de Freed From Desire. Gala sofreu décadas sem receber o devido retorno financeiro, alegando que o produtor usava até sua assinatura em contratos sem consentimento.

Em final de 2023 para 2024, com apoio do empresário Ben Mawson, Gala conseguiu regravar Freed From Desire, seguindo exemplo de artistas como Taylor Swift. Isso permitiu que ela recuperasse os direitos da música e passasse a receber uma parte justa dos seus lucros.

Em 2025, a regravação está sendo lançada através da Ministry of Sound B1 Recordings, incluindo remixes de artistas como Diplo. A faixa já aparece novamente nas paradas e garante royalties, finalmente dando retorno financeiro a Gala.

Gala finalmente está colhendo os frutos do seu trabalho financeiramente, juridicamente e artisticamente. Ela continua ativa, relançando sua obra, performando e recebendo o devido crédito.

Hailing from Brazil, the sound of Dayane Leanddro is passion, energy and spirit. Whether deep, bass, progressive house, tech house, EDM or techno, her beautiful and soulful soundscapes will take you on a musical journey and put a smile on your face. 

Growing up listening to vinyls of Brazilian singers and with a passion for dance, Dayane’s natural sense of rhythm shines through as a DJ. Her love of music and dance is unconventional and varied - She has the Brazilian samba spirit, but she was also a classical ballet dancer. In her 20s, she became equally addicted to the vibes of electronic music. Attending festivals in Brazil, such as Experience and Tribe, sparked her desire to become a DJ. Her main influences at that time were legends including Tiësto, Carol Cox, Infected Mushrooms, Armin Van Buuren and Faithless. She was particularly inspired by Brazilian producers like Vintage Culture, Gabe, Gui Boratto, Cat Dealers and Illuzionize.

Keen to explore the world and get into the European music scene, Dayane moved to London in 2016. She fell in love with travel and while in Ibiza, while partying to Vintage Culture and his crew, she realised that becoming a professional DJ was her ultimate dream. As soon as she arrived back in London, she enrolled at London Sound Academy. Since graduating from the elite course, she has played at legendary London venues including Egg, Sushi Samba, Cyberdog and Ministry of Sound, including in the massive room 103 supporting Nicky Romero and Lost Frequencies. She made her international debut in Bulgaria 🇧🇬  followed by The NL Club and Jungle in Amsterdam and will shortly be Dj-in her first tour in Ibiza from the 7th to the 19th of August. 

Keeping everyone dancing and smiling, the crowd can feel truly connected to Dayane’s vibe. Keep an eye on Dayane Leanddro, for exotic and heart felt beats, expect to see her contagious smile and energy playing the sunset down in Ibiza and worldwide.

Omar Labastida is one of Mexico’s most respected figures in the global electronic music scene — a true pioneer who has shaped the underground house movement across Latin America and beyond for over two decades.

His journey began at just 15 years old, spinning records at Emporium Discoteque in Mexico City. Born into a family of live musicians, Omar’s deep connection to rhythm and percussion has defined his musical identity ever since. Influenced by legends like Danny Tenaglia and Frankie Knuckles, his sound blends Tech House, Deep House, and tribal grooves into emotionally driven, dancefloor-focused sets that are both technically precise and spiritually rich.
Throughout his career, Omar has held iconic residencies at venues such as Pacha Mexico, La Boom Cancún, and the legendary Blue Parrot in Playa del Carmen. He has performed in Colombia, Chile, Thailand, Spain, Italy, Norway, Portugal, and Amsterdam, sharing stages with global heavyweights like Carl Cox, Marco Carola, Richie Hawtin, The Martinez Brothers, Maya Jane Coles, Adam Beyer, and Luciano. In 2025, he will mark a career milestone with his debut at the Ministry of Sound in London.

Omar is also the co-founder and Artistic Director of Downtown Tulum Radio, a platform born out of a desire to preserve the soul of underground music in the Riviera Maya and offer a non-commercial, globally connected space for artists to thrive. Through the radio, he curates sets from rising and established DJs, produces showcases, and leads the DTR DJ Academy, where he personally teaches students the art of mixing with vinyl — a core part of his philosophy on musical integrity.

In parallel, Omar runs Riviera Underground, a label and events brand focused on authentic musical curation rooted in Latin rhythm and global groove. It has hosted showcases across Europe and the Americas, amplifying voices that carry purpose, culture, and creativity.

With over 200 original productions and remixes on labels like, Stereo Productions, Deeperfect, Toolrom, Rawthentic, 303 Lovers,Younan Music and more, Omar continues to evolve in the studio, blending analog warmth with modern digital tools to craft tracks that feel alive.

Driven by passion, discipline, and a deep respect for the craft, Omar Labastida is more than a DJ — he’s a cultural bridge, mentor, and visionary leader pushing Mexican talent to international heights.

I was born in the late 60's, but only in the late 70's I got to absorb the disco era. I was a listener, but always with a keen sense. It was where everything began, a passion for eletronic music.

In the 80's, these most intensely lived, and for me one of the best. I absorbed a generation of true musicians, which adds even more knowledge and feeling.

Nowadays, with all knowledge that I have gotten, I look intensely all the songs of the past. I really miss those times and I do not deny. After all, having this feeling is a spiritual universe, where we bring with us in our lives, everything good that we got. It is our story on a journey throughout time, going back, reviving às if it were the first time, remembering, inventing everything again making the "now" become Alive as in the pas, becoming a source of life.

Music is a cycle that goes back and forth. As I mentioned, I miss those times, but I did not stop in time, I enjoy the pasta and the present. I think I do define myself as an only style. I always say I like music and with the keen sense I have, I listen to the songs and if I believe they sound good to my ears, that's what I will believe. House is the base. However, in my sets there might be a tech house, a techno, or rather any Söns that may please my ears.

Nowadays, I live intensely researching everything from the past until the current days.

Nasci no final de 60's, logo, fui absorver a era DISCO já no final de 70's, era ouvinte, mas sempre com um feeling aguçado. Foi onde tudo começou a paixão pela Música Eletrônica.

Nos anos 80's, esses mais vividos intensamente, e para eu um dos melhores, absorvi uma geração de verdadeiros musicistas, o que veio acrescentar ainda mais o conhecimento e o feeling.

Hoje, com todo conhecimento que absorvi, busco intensamente todas as músicas do passado, sou sim, verdadeiro SAUDOSO, e não me nego ser saudoso, afinal a saudade é um universo espiritual, onde trazemos conosco em nossas vidas tudo de bom que absorvemos, é a nossa história em uma viagem pelo tempo, indo atraz, revivendo como se fosse a primeira vez, lembrando, recordando, podendo inventar tudo novamente, fazendo com que, o agora, torne vivo como no passado, tonando-me fonte de vida.

A música é um ciclo, vai e volta. Como falei acima, sou saudoso, porém, não parei no tempo, curto o passado e o presente. Acho que não me defino por um estilo somente, gosto sempre de falar que gosto de música, e com o feeling aguçado que tenho, ouço as músicas, e se eu acreditar, soar bem aos meus ouvidos, é o que acreditarei. A House é a base, entretanto, em meus sets, pode ter um Tech House um Techno....ou melhor qualquer música que agradar aos meus ouvidos.

Hoje, vivo intensamente pesquisando, desde tudo do passado, até os dias atuais.
