Madhouse Records welcomes Fletch onto its roster this August with his ‘Kinda Want To Dance’ EP, comprised of three-originals from the UK artist.
Born in London, now residing on the South Coast of the UK, producer and DJ FLETCH stepped onto the scene in 2020, unveiling his material on imprints such as Kaluki Musik, Rawthentic, Whippin’ and Pakate. Here his story continues with his latest EP for
the revered Madhouse Records imprint.
Title-track ‘Kinda Want To Dance’ opens up the release on a bouncy tip with a bumpy bass hook, swinging drums, vacillating keys and soulful vocals. ‘Hard Times’ follows next, embracing a similarly playful aesthetic courtesy of an amalgamation of choppy synth hooks, crunchy bass stabs, shuffled percussion and vocal licks.
‘It Feels Real’ follows next, stripping things back to modulating, minimalistic drums, menacing bass swells and tripped out spoken word vocals. ‘Playboy’ then wraps things up as the fourth original, bringing things back into brighter realms with funk-infused
guitar and brass samples running atop heavily swung drums and rounded sub bass tones.

Launched in 1992 Madhouse Records Inc was a joint venture between US DJ and producer Kerri Chandler and Mel Medalie’s Champion Records. Mel met Kerri on a trip to the US whilst visiting Todd Terry at Idler’s Studio in Brooklyn (whose Royal House project was later released on Champion).

Madhouse became predominantly an outlet for Kerri’s music, as well as tracks from his producer friends and tracks he came across through his extensive DJ experience. The sound of the label was rooted in Deep and Soulful House, some instrumentals but on the whole full vocal tracks.

The first release on the label was a 6-track sampler entitled “A Basement, A Red Light & A Feelin’” which showcased some of the artists and releases to come, and sold in excess of 100,000 copies on vinyl alone.

Singles and EP’s followed from Matrix (one of Kerri’s own aliases), Dreamer G, Christopher McCray, mostly produced, co-produced or remixed by Kerri himself. The catalogue also features collaborations with Jerome Sydenham, Dennis Ferrer (whose recent release “Hey Hey” is one of the biggest club smashes in recent history), and even Jazz legend Roy Ayers on the huge “Good Vibrations”.

Into the 2000’s Kerri put together two albums, the first being “10 Years Of Madhouse”, a retrospective mixed CD looking back at some of the major successes and favourite releases over the life of the label, as well as some hand-picked new tracks from Christopher McCray and Dee Dee Brave. In 2002 a second volume of “A Basement, A Red Light & A Feelin’” featuring some brand new tracks, and some classics, plus a bonus CD of the album mixed live at Centro Fly, New York was released, and gained huge sales and critical success.

In 2010 the entire catalogue of singles, EP’s and albums has been completely remastered and made available for digital download for the first time, including some previously unreleased rarities.

German born producer Kevin Over releases on Kerri Chandler’s Madhouse records this November, featuring two original tracks and a remix from Art Alfie.

After taking to DJing and production at an early age, Kevin’s early twenties have seen him put out material ranging from deep, grooving house cuts to main room techno and this versatility has helped him garner the respect of industry leading DJ’s including Adam Beyer, Laurent Garnier and Maya Jane Coles. With releases in the last twelve months on Get Physical, Mobilee and Leena, this most recent EP see’s Kevin Over continue to establish himself as a go to producer for dance floor ready house and techno.

‘Where to Begin’ opens with the title track, a Kevin Over original with spirited vocals, spell binding piano riffs and a well-weighted bass line. The track is underpinned by classic swinging house percussion and a kick with real presence. Kevin’s second original track ‘Amoura’ then induces us into a trance like state with his phaser-drenched drums, hypnotic strings and expertly selected vocal samples.

Art Alfie’s lo-fi take on “Amoura” closes the EP. With the drums coated nicely with just the right amount of tape saturation, the Karlovak co-founder gives the samples a dusty feel to round off the release.

Italian talent Ruff Stuff heads to Madhouse Records this April to reveal his impressive three track EP ‘Dopamine Burner’.

Italian born, Berlin based DJ/producer and vinyl enthusiast Gianfranco ‘Nanni’ Barnaba, aka Ruff Stuff, has emerged onto the scene in style over recent years, with his slick blend of old-school house, garage and harsher techno territories finding favour amongst the likes of Cinthie and Black Loops to name just a few. Following recent releases on the likes of Berlin Bass Collective, Quality Vibe, Neovinyl and his own Ruff Stuff Music imprint, mid-April marks a label debut on Kerri Chandler’s Madhouse Records, delivering three classy house cuts in the process.

‘This Way’ opens proceedings as rich organ chords combine with slick percussion arrangements to reveal a production packed full of swing, whilst ‘Time Shaper’ introduces a hazy, slow-blooming groove, fusing delicate hats and warping melodies throughout. Last up, title cut ‘Dopamine Burner’ concludes the EP in fine fashion as an infectious core bassline guides listeners through an ever-evolving journey across six and a half minutes accented by dusty drum licks, spiraling lead synths and hypnotic pads.

Anil Aras debuts on Madhouse Records this March as he unveils his new EP, ‘The Lost Projects’. Netherlands based DJ and producer Anil Aras has been gaining recognition for his Phreaks of Visions project over the last year alongside musical partner Lockland, but is probably best known for his stellar solo material on labels such as Hot Haus, SlapFunk Records and Beste Freunde. As a DJ he has played across the globe alongside key sets within Amsterdam at the likes of Shelter, BRET and Thuishaven, as well as featuring as a regular at both ANOTR’s No Art events and as a key member of the SlapFunk family. He now debuts on Madhouse Records with a standout four track EP entitled ‘The Lost Projects’ featuring his own unique take on house music. Appropriately titled lead cut ‘Mad Houz’ opens proceedings with a heads-down, rolling groove that perfectly sets the tone, before ‘Need Da Bass’ journeys into classic deep house territories with a rough and raw rhythm track lifted by loose percussion, subtle keys and soulful vocal snippets. Next, ‘Free Your Mind’ is a deep and smooth house affair fueled by soothing chords and a spoken word vocal refrain, leading into the EP closer ‘Adara’ - a stripped back production that marries delicate synth lines with icy snares to great effect.

This January British-mainstay Lee Walker inaugurates the 2021 release schedule of Kerri Chandler’s esteemed Madhouse Records with the heavy-hitting Tricks, featuring both UK and US Garage mixes, the release also offers respective Dub versions.

"The idea behind Tricks was to combine the fun, swing filled personality of UK Garage with the more organic instrumentation of US Garage. It actually started off inspired by a classic Fuse style groove which I just kept building towards a UKG groove. I got the idea while flicking through my sample library and I heard a vocal that I thought I'd love to use. I wrote the little piano line and organ chords then off I went with the idea of fusing US with UK Garage. I'm really happy with the result, it’s something I think is perfect for the club when we can finally set foot in one again!" - Lee Walker

Lee’s US Garage Mix sets the tone of the release, as hard-hitting kicks blend into soothing vocal tones. Echoing synths create a groovy, late-night feel before the UK Garage Mix strips things back and delivers a signature two-step flavour with subtle piano rolls that produce a feel-good theme throughout.

Lee Walker is a familiar face in the contemporary house sphere. He first shot into the spotlight when Defected signed his edit of DJ Deeon’s Freak Like Me in 2016, a track which is BPI (British Phonographic Institute) Silver certified and one that resulted in the young talent receiving a DJ Mag Best Of British Award for ‘Best Remix’. Releases on acclaimed labels Hot Creations and Hotflush Recordings soon followed cementing his place as one of the true heavy-hitters of the industry. Fast-forward to today and Lee continues to make heads turn, with recent appearances on Simma Black and Freakin909. Madhouse Records provides the perfect platform for this next release, a label that has remained at the forefront of electronic music for almost three decades, welcoming the likes of Peggy Gou, Detroit Swindle and Seven Davis Jr in recent years.

Bringing forth his earliest inheritance and influences of music from the Rare Groove and Soul genres respectively, they are part explanation of Kye's attachment to the melodic cords and vocal elements of House. These of which were the first to expand his understanding of sound as a whole. During his early teen years and notably growing up throughout the UK Garage era, independent influences began to formate as he developed his own passion for music in the form of collecting. Seemingly addicted to the skippy, rhythmic and lower octave bass lines, his preference of 2-step, speed garage and 4x4 organically transcended over a number of years towards a more sub-surfaced sound. This came in the form of Deep, Minimal and Tech House.

His passion and mature ear for widespread genres of music have assisted heavily in his taste towards a catalogue of electronically influenced variants. This has enabled him to refine his preference of sound, blending audio across the full spectrum of the genre and providing an unforgettable rave style experience. Inspired by DJ EZ, Todd Terry & DJ Spoony, Kye too seeks perfection whilst performing and thrives on connecting with the raver via sound and selection. Crowds often tend to identify a Kye Refix performance by his distinctive unhinged style of creativity. Directing his art towards the masses, his goal is to continue building and cement his name amongst the musical elite. Heavily equipped with sounds of the past, present and future, when performing live, expect a tailored variety of house music through the deeper vocal elements, to the rhythmic rolling minimal tech groove.

Launched in 1992 Madhouse Records Inc was a joint venture between US DJ and producer Kerri Chandler and Mel Medalie’s Champion Records.  Mel met Kerri on a trip to the US whilst visiting Todd Terry at Idler’s Studio in Brooklyn (whose Royal House project was later released on Champion).

Madhouse became predominantly an outlet for Kerri’s music, as well as tracks from his producer friends and tracks he came across through his extensive DJ experience.  The sound of the label was rooted in Deep and Soulful House, some instrumentals but on the whole full vocal tracks.

The first release on the label was a 6-track sampler entitled “A Basement, A Red Light & A Feelin’” which showcased some of the artists and releases to come, and sold in excess of 100,000 copies on vinyl alone.

Singles and EP’s followed from Matrix (one of Kerri’s own aliases), Dreamer G, Christopher McCray, mostly produced, co-produced or remixed by Kerri himself.  The catalogue also features collaborations with Jerome Sydenham, Dennis Ferrer (whose recent release “Hey Hey” is one of the biggest club smashes in recent history), and even Jazz legend Roy Ayers on the huge “Good Vibrations”.

Into the 2000’s Kerri put together two albums, the first being “10 Years Of Madhouse”, a retrospective mixed CD looking back at some of the major successes and favourite releases over the life of the label, as well as some hand-picked new tracks from Christopher McCray and Dee Dee Brave.  In 2002 a second volume of “A Basement, A Red Light & A Feelin’” featuring some brand new tracks, and some classics, plus a bonus CD of the album mixed live at Centro Fly, New York was released, and gained huge sales and critical success.

In 2010 the entire catalogue of singles, EP’s and albums has been completely remastered and made available for digital download for the first time, including some previously unreleased rarities.
