Radio Active is an urban community radio station catering to diverse and heterogeneous groups in Bangalore, licensed to JGI.
Launched in 2007, the station is a platform for different communities (by interest and by geographical area, including NGOs, other institutions) to converge/unite, share ideas, encourage creative expressions, raise issues (civic and social rights), promote local talent, foster local traditions, sensitize on issues of importance. Radio Active seeks to promote inclusion, good governance, policy advocacy issues and enhance community cohesion by dialogues to support collective problem-solving and promote initiatives by collaboration and partnerships. 

Nirmalee Nethra Makalande- Musician/Former News Reader and Anouncer The songstress with a unique lilting voice hailed from Kalutara

Nirmalee started her music career in 1986 as a child artiste at SLBC, and developed into a professional artiste gradually. She trained as a recording artiste under the following music directors, D.D.Dany, Mervin Perera, W.F. Wimalasiri, M.R. Chulasinhe, Shelton Premaratne, Victor Perera, Nawaratna Gamage and Harsha Makalande. 
She obtained her SLBC Grading as a 'Sarala Gee' Artiste while still being at school. 
Nirmalee entered the arena of announcing especially Sinhala News Reading by joining Sirasa Radio in 1996...making her mark as Nirmalee Perera. Kathumathi, Sanduda Tharaka Viyana etc were highly popular programs produced and presented by her. 
She also displayed her capabilities as a Tele-Drama recording artiste by contributing to productions such as Adaraneeya Amma, Hiruni, Ranmehesi etc. 
The popular single Udataruva based on the music of the internationally famous film Pavuru Valalu and other perfomances made Nirmalee known among stalwarts such as Tissa Abeysekera, Lala Piyasena and  Lester James Pieris. 
Some noteworthy events to be mentioned are The Presidential Awards ceremony, Sri Lankan of The year, Lecture Demonstration by Tissa Abeysekera on the Propagation of Sri Lankan Music, etc. 
Some legendary recordists with whom Nirmalee has collaborated are Augi Ranaweera, Mervin Bainz, Dayananda Perera, and Oswald Nugera. Her debut into Songwriting  and Arranging has been marked with Noyanna Kalpana and Hirupaya introducing instrumentation and scoring hitherto unused in Sri Lanka.
