Where does urban electronics of high standards lead? As it should be, in a quarter with dilapidated squats, concrete walls painted with graffiti and, even worse, a weighty vibe of basements. Nothing else can be expected.

However, in addition to the culture of underground dancing, chock-full of bad boys and girls, something more is truly appreciated — a return to the basics, revealing the hegemony of the dirty rhythm section, the percussion of cult drum machines and short sampled replicas of Afro-Americans. The laudatory ode to the dashing nineties affirmatively flashed with a quartet, honed on the machine of time and skill to continue the thematic storyline.

The twelve-inch street vision is made according to the Golden Section of garage motifs and house, passioned by severe asceticism, a rough grin of a bass drum and chords of rare synthesizers. The update of rhythmic combinations gush with irrepressible energy flowing through the veins of missionaries and avid connoisseurs of the genre.

This music is so alive that even the stereo of an old Mercedes is languishing in anticipation of the next selection. The embodiment of excitement in a wild, numbered concept from GLBDOM!

For many in underground music, the words Back To Basics mean only one thing - the chaotic and anarchic Leeds house party founded by Dave Beer. The GLBDOM label is slowly broadening out that definition though with this ongoing series under the same name. It's been good to date and this third volume doesn't disappoint with Manuold, Bress Underground, MacLO duo, Jon Billick and Scruscru all offering up their own takes on deep house. From the mid-tempo and cosmic to the more raw and punchy, via the loopy and the future-facing, it's a classy collection.

Hailing from Palermo, Italy, @manuold brings his signature sounds to a fresh new outing on Four Framed Music. The underground house maestro has landed on the likes of House Puff Records, We_R House, and many more, always with his own unique take on the genre and standout grooves. 

Opening up the EP is the fantastic "The Paradise" with swirling cosmic pads that bring great vibes next to an aching female vocal and timeless US house beats. "Glow" is another one for the purists with its surging chords and hi-tek soul stylings over dusty and deep drums that keep you moving. "Give Me Your Hand" brings smooth drum programming and icy hi-hats with well-placed vocal samples that bring warmth, and last of all is "Grey Sky," a late-night charmer with deft cosmic pads and super slick house grooves full of class and charm. 

Manuold shows his quality on this fine and futuristic four-track offering.

PREMIERE: Manuold - Give Me Your Hand

Live recording of my set at Thuishaven where I had the honours to open the day before Luuk van Dijk, Fleur Shore, Boss Priester, De Sluwe Vos & D-Stone B2B Benjamin Berg.

Amazing day where I had to keep my nerves under control as it was a first time for me playing some vinyl records on such a big stage. On top of that we had to swap a mixer quite early in the set.

Nonetheless, I think it turned out pretty decently and hope that you'll enjoy the grooves!

GLBDOM Classic drops a second vinyl release here in the form of a Various Artists selection of vintage house sounds. Manuold's 'Hey Sunshine' gets things underway with some back-to-the-90s kick drums and playful horns with uplifting vocal samples making for a sweet vibe. Evenn's 'Inner Dance' is a nice raw house bumper with vamping chords and some soulful Detroit chords in the background. Scart Lead then keeps things silky with the smooth pads and muted melodies of 'Everglades' and Esspee and Kid Only close out with two more ageless house gems that pair dance for clout with heartfelt soul.

Smart dresser and dedicated beard groomer Manuold - real name Emmanuele Macagnone - has notched up some excellent releases since making his bow in 2017, including admired EPs on House Puff, We_R House and Madhouse Records. Here he brings his classy brand of deep house to GLBDOM for the first time. With its squelchy synth-bass, loose-limbed garage-house drums, gospel vocal samples and warm pads, opener 'Jersey' sounds like a long-lost Kerri Chandler gem. He continues the retro-futurist theme on the low-slung and jazzy 'Hot & Crunchy', before doffing a cap to deep house/tech-house fusion on the Tenaglia-influenced 'Zanzibar'. Over on the flip, 'Night Long' is a chunky slab of 21st century New Jersey deep house with an Italian twist, while 'In The Clouds' sees him successfully lean into his Italo-house influences while retaining a dreamy and chunky deep house flex.

Kenneth Hill (1996) is a Dutch DJ and producer based in ’s-Hertogenbosch, known for his deep and tech house sound.

Since 2017, Kenneth has been steadily crafting his identity in the electronic music scene—starting out with smaller gigs and warm-up sets. His breakthrough came in 2023 when he earned a coveted spot in Michel de Hey’s Kweekvijver talent program. With Michel’s mentorship and support, Kenneth quickly gained momentum, landing performances at renowned venues such as Thuishaven, Colorado Charlie, Complex Maastricht, and major festivals like Mysteryland.

After contributing to various VA releases between 2017 and 2024, Kenneth is now stepping into the spotlight with his debut solo EP on House Cookin’ Records—marking a new chapter in his journey as a producer.
