Peppering your summer with some heatwave-ready delicacies all set at melting your decks and woofers, here comes Kater Blau and Sisyphos affiliate vibist Benjamin Knows, a name who's been making waves in and around the big city and shall continue spreading around with viral impact. Championing a bountifully textured yet laser-precise strain of dub house, 'I Go (Crazy)' is proper incendiary material for the long, hot nights of boogie ahead of us. Drenched in heavily- processed layers of FX and playful tape-echo gone wild, Benjamin's debut incursion on UY flexes the kind of low-slung, elastic bounce, chopped-up vox slivers and bass-borne churn that promises to get dancers wading in an ocean floor of sweat. Rolling up his sleeves on remix duty, label co-head Marco Resmann dishes out his own irresistibly infectious take on the track, fleshing it out with a further syncopated swing, hi-octane punch and crisper-than-crisp drum programming, all coated with a thick gravy of machine filtering for good measure. For our next instalment, Upon You co-founder Marco Resmann teams up with up-and-coming Jordanian outfit, Fairplay. Having previously released on the likes of Stil vor Talent and BAR 25, the duo makes its first incursion on the label with a steam-powered jazztronics roller that conjures up the finest elements of loungey bop and dubbed-out techno. Bearing the clear aesthetic stamp of both Resmann's inch-perfectly engineered blend of deep, immersive ambience and bespoke groove, as much as it showcases Fairplay's ever-soulful strain of polyamorous rhythms and motifs -- tapping into cutting-edge house music potentialities, pure Cotton Club vibes and Arabic folk in equal measure, 'Like It Is' is hybrid boogie at its most instrumentally lush and captivatingly cinematic. Draped in a film noir kind of atmosphere where the ghosts of Bogart and Bacall would obviously not feel out of place, the track has us swirling and jiving to a sensuously metronomic swing, languidly elevating from behind thick curtains of cigarette smoke and volutes of body heat emanations, as a solid bassy groove summons all dancers to the dance-floor imminently. Tweaking the original into a vocal disco churner, Fuad and Marco treat us to a blazing mini Moog-operated workout, stressing on the track's floor-ready potential and its Sino-flavoured strings' uplift. Premiere: Marco Resmann, Kotelett - Self-Destruct Sequence [3000 Grad]

Another net gain in risk vs. reward. Losses happened more toward the end. Got lucky with a few tracks I hadn't prepped with cue points. I really need to get to know these tracks better. Couple of Dark Wave-ish tracks at the end could use a solid edit. It's time--I need to start making my own edits.

BIOGRAPHY

Daesmith is a Switzerland-based DJ and producer with roots in Hungary’s 90s rave scene. Known for his dynamic, precise sets, carefully curated selections, and flawless transitions, he has graced the decks at iconic clubs across Europe and Asia, including Pacha, Home (Budapest), Smolna (Warsaw), Arcan (Vietnam), and has become a staple at Zürich’s premier venue, Hive.

He takes a forward-thinking approach to music, blending hypnotic house and techno rhythms with dark atmospheric undertones and deep, textured grooves. His tracks have found homes on respected labels such as Mango Alley, Keep Thinking, Stripped, Re:Sound and Truesounds, earning support from industry legends like John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Muir, Paul Oakenfold, and others.

His contributions to the renowned Electronic Groove Podcast (EG.126 & EG Spotlight 139) are a testament to his industry relevance. As the founder of the Audio Bliss event series, Daesmith continues to shape the underground scene with both his DJ sets and productions.

It is the year 2007.

Electronic music is more popular than ever, especially TechHouse is on a thriving uprise and Berlin already became the buzzing nightlife capital of the world it is known as today.

Amidst all these creative and musical vibes a new label is born -  Upon.You Records. Founded in February 2007 by DJ & producer Marco Resmann, with a first release under his moniker Phage on Martin Landsky's Intim Recordings as well as great success as one half of the infamous project Luna City Express under his belt, and electronic music veteran Hawks Grunert, formerly involved in running Timing Recordings with Tanith as well as working for legendary „Frontpage“ magazine, Upon.You Records was already widely recognized for its first release, Phage's „Vut & Vat EP“, and started to drive on the fast lane immediately.

Originally intended to be a platform for music from an inner circle of friends as well as for aspiring young talent it didn't take long until the label branched out in 2008 with first international signings,  various label tours all over the place and a first label compilation.

In 2009, after receiving massive support from nightlife heavyweights like Steve Bug, Brothers Vibe, Someone Else and many more, a cover story in German electronic music magazine GROOVE and with a catalogue of roughly twenty 12“ releases Upon.You launched two subdivisions - Upon.You Digital and the momentary Upon.You Sweet & Sour Series – and established a booking agency as well as regular label events at two of Berlin's most praised venues, Watergate Club and the infamous Panoramabar.

Furthermore Upon.You Records teamed up with Workaholics Berlin for the launch of a merchandising line in 2009, introducing the labels unique visual image to the world of street fashion.

With the launch of the annual label retro- / futurespective „Upon.You Diary“ and an expanded core artist family now including Marco Resmann, Martin Landsky, ONNO, Ruede Hagelstein, Gunnar Stiller, Magit Cacoon and The Cheapers alongside many others, 2010 finally paved the way for success and fruitful growth to come in consecutive years in which Upon.You became one of the leading labels in all things TechHouse and related.

And it was even the first issue „Upon.You Diary“ that awed the electronic world with Marco Resmann's widely praised tune „This Song“, immediately ruling every dancefloor after it was released and drawing even more attenttion towards the Berlin-based label which continued to expand its growing international network whilst signing releases by Quenum, Kink or the UK-based longtime ambassador Steve Lawler.

On a jam-packed schedule of about twenty releases per year lately, including Ruede Hagelstein's Beatport smash „Minus“, with label artists touring the globe frequently and armed with the brand new, 2014-launched UYX subdivision focusing on raw TechHouse and classic stamped whitelabel aesthetics, Upon.You has grown into a major force on the international electronic music circuit.

Always on the lookout for new talent and keen to explore new territories, the future looks brighter than ever for Upon.You after entering the longplay circuit with the widely acknowledged album debut of the former Tel Aviv- and now Berlin-based DJ / producer Magit Cacoon, another successful instalment of the „Upon.You Diary“-series and finally entering three digit realms with the release of Marco Resmann's extrordinary gold vinyl 12“  „100“ - the onehundredth Upon.You single release in the label history which was released in late 2015.

And things surely are about to be busier than ever for all members of the Upon.You camp over the course of 2016, celebrating the labels 8th anniversary with a dedicated series of label events all over Europe and special showcases at Sonar / Barcelona as well as ADE and, of course, a string of high quality releases for maximum dancefloor pleasure throughout this season and beyond. Watch out.



As the son of a professional flamenco singer, Thomas has always been surrounded by music.  Exposure to flamenco influenced him because it has a dynamic range of emotions—from the "deep singing" style of cante hondo, to the more lively alegrias.  He has also worked in the corporate, independent, and online music industry for a number of years.  At one point he was a Content Manager for the Electronic Music genre at MP3.com, where he screened over 500 songs per day.  Exposure to a wide range of music explains the range of genres in his mixes—he uses whatever carries the mood.  From listening to Umm Kulthum's "Enta Omri" in his childhood, to New Wave and  Industrial as a teen, it became difficult for him to stick to one sound. Though vinyl was his original format of choice when he started in the 90s, the use of digital mixing has helped him better form soundscapes to expand your headspace.  Let him play with your moods for a spell.
