Toronto-based vinyl only label Selections. is back with its tenth release, which comes from MATE label-head Rafa Santos, who delivers adds four classy House tracks to both: his own and the label's discography. In his typical manner Santos' approach for his Time To Dance EP on Selection. remains that of an artist, who's decided to lay its fortune into the hands of House Music. Four tracks designed for the floors, four tracks so sweet and genre supportive it makes one want to sink in as a resting mind in a pillow. The B1. About House, comes in with a the genre-typical Four-to-the-floor-Groove of the drums while in the course of the track deep strings and spoken vocals are added in exactly this order giving the track this raw and classy NY-House-sound. Again Santos comes up with a more than solid EP to add to his fine catalogue of releases showcasing his skills of creating timeless and meaningful music.

For their 15th outing, cultured Spanish label MATE welcomes Shaka for three blissed-out deep house delights. 

You are soon sunk into a warming world of groove with opener 'Sacred Nightfall' (feat Eve - Maix mix) which layers up dreamy pads and angelic, effortless vocal sounds over dusty drums. 

'Magic Plan' is no less sumptuous with its neat and noodling piano chords over slightly more upright drums all making for a nice jazzy vibe. 

'Shift In Structure' closes out with an even more jazzy feel thanks to the live-sounding drums and charming Rhodes which all whip you into a spin.

For the latest release on his consistently impressive Mate Records imprint, Madrid stalwart Rafa Santos has turned to Parisian twosome Groove Boys Project. Their take on house tends towards the nostalgic and musically expansive, and the four tracks assembled here fit that description. They begin by joining the dots between Kerri Chandler style garage-house and dreamier European deep house on 'Keep On Dreamin' (Club Mix)', before expertly fusing elements of new age house, Italo-house and solo-laden US deep house on 'Sunrise (Underwater Mix)'. Over on the flip, 'The Jazz Palace (Long Ride Mix)' is a vibraphone-solo laden chunk of rolling deep house warmth and Rawai hook-up 'Djoon Trax (937 Classsic Mix)' sees the duo add delicious jazz guitar solos to a sun-soaked deep house groove rich in rubbery synth-bass.

Torture the Artist - your source for contemporary electronic music

Torture the Artist is a webzine, or a magazine made for the internet, geared towards those with a passion for contemporary electronic music, with subgenres including Techno, Tech House, Deep House and Eletronica, as well as a small amount of Indie and Alternative. Founded in 2014 by Holger Breuer, a German native and lover of the arts, Torture the Artist now consists of five team members from all around the world.

In addition to publishing interviews, music reviews, DJ charts and track premieres, the webzine hosts out a  podcast series called 'art:casts'. This medium gives DJs and producers the artistic freedom to highlight their different musical styles while not being restricted by factors such as setting, and connecting them to a wider audience. 

Being in its ninth year, Torture the Artist has gained a strong and active online support group, including music enthusiasts to label managers and artists themselves, creating a cohesive community with music as their bond.
