An aid to meditation, perhaps. Meher Baba emphasised that all religions are founded on one fundamental but non-fundamentalist truth, Love. "Love and coercion can never go together, but while love cannot be forced on anyone, it can be awakened by love itself. Love is essentially self-communicative; those who do not have it catch it from those who have it. Those who receive love from others cannot be its recipients without giving a response which, in itself, is the nature of love.  True Love is unconquerable and irresistible. It goes on gathering power and spreading itself until eventually it transforms everyone it touches. Humanity will attain to a new mode of being and life through the free and unhampered interplay of pure love from heart to heart."

This was an instrumental called Pentecostal Fire for about 10 minutes before I realised it was the long-awaited setting for a ghazal-like 'meditation' I wrote to Avatar Meher Baba in 1979. 

Baba , what can I say to please You? 
What tuneless song could I try to sing? 
What note can I strive for to reach You? 
In Your Presence words fail and are nothing. 

Your tongue held but pealing praise 
Tolled through my works and days. 

Baba, what can I do to keep You? 
Close to my heart as it beats out my time? 
Close in the crowds where I speak with You? 
In Your Presence words fail and are nothing. 

Your agonies blown with a kiss 
Laughing stops of a silent bliss: 

Baba, what can I think of to praise You? 
If I mastered expression in everything? 
If I measured Your Grace in a poem for You? 
In Your Presence words fail and are nothing. 

There’s a feeling of flinty God 
In your ‘have faith, I’ll help you’ nod. 

Baba, what deepest bow could raise You? 
Were the depths of humility sounded? 
Were my debt to You found and expounded for You?

The iris of Love in your gaze. 
A Sun of days' rays in its blaze. 

Baba, what heights of beauty could touch You? 
Could the world rest in laurels at my feet? 
Could I sing like Orpheus in the deep for You?

O Beloved, these questions I ask of You, 
But Love asks no questions, and answers none. 
I am lost, but in love I am lost in You.

The caravan is leaving, you best go on home
do not try to contact Him, you're on your own
Remember that we're all to be resolved
to following His orders and to rely on God

Look out now, the New Life is coming through
and it's going to be lived with or without you

Baba has gone begging, better make some sense
His turban and His robe look like some comic dress
but the work that He is doing cannot be seen
and if we knew His language, what would it mean?

Look out now, Baba's New Life is calling you
and it's going to be lived with or without you


Baba heard you crying, now He calls for you
It looks as though you have got some explaining to do
His order has been broken, there are rules
Tomorrow you will be sent out into the world

Look out now, Baba's New Life's to continue
but the Master's nazar will be on you.

Offer something to them, in bhiksha please
but under no circumstance are you to fall to your knees
Among you He is a brother and a man
Only His companions could understand

در 11 ژانویه سال 1926 مهربابا آرتی  خود به نام "بوجاوه نار" را که بعدها به آرتی گجراتی معروف شد سرودند.
شعر و آهنگ هر دو از مهربابا می باشند.
برگردان به فارسی:

1- خداوندا به فرمان خود آتش جهل را خاموش فرما!
عاشقانت اشتیاق آن را دارند که نور ایمان را به آنها ارزانی داری

2- ای مرشد ما، مهربابا، ما سر خود را بر روی پاهای تو قرار می دهیم
یا مهربابا، تو کاملا از ذات الهی واقف و آگاه هستی.

3- تو خدا و حقیقت هستی، تو در آن واحد هم عاشق و هم معشوق می باشی
تویی دریای وحدت و به راستی توفانی از دانش بیکران الهی می باشی

4- ای سالک، دانش الهی را به ما رهروان ارزانی دار
زیرا تو ای پاراماتما، دانش کل هستی و خود معرفت الهی می باشی

5- جامی از عشق الهی را به ما بده تا بنوشیم تا مست و از خود بی خبر گردیم

New Sacred Music by Simon Reece de Sousa influenced by Latin, Persian, Indian music as well as the European choral tradition. Simon has lived on four continents Europe, Africa, Latin America and now India. He has drawn musical inspiration from these and other world cultures as well as from different musical traditions, particularly classical, jazz and sacred music.
        
The range of instruments he plays is equally varied: sitar (from India), duduk (Armenia), charango (South America), santoor (Persia), Celtic harp, Spanish guitar and viola.

Joined by his wife Carla, he has recently finished his fifth album, "Dancing in Rapturous Contemplation". The album contains pieces ranging from the serene and ethereal to the joyous and ecstatic.

Taberna del Corazón Studios began in La Plata, Argentina when  I recorded "Los Amigos del Amigo" for their album "Muchas Voces, Un Corazón".
It then moved to Meherabad, India where I have recorded Iranian musicians, Dariyush Alanjari and Hooyar Jam, as well as local singer Pavan Naik.

What if Bob Dylan wrote and performed songs for the Avatar of the Age, Avatar Meher Baba?
