Lantern Kin is a real-world Appalachian folk collective known for blending mythic storytelling, ambient textures, and psychedelic soul into a hauntingly original sound.

Formed in the misty foothills of southern Appalachia, Lantern Kin is a five-piece ensemble—three men and two women—whose music channels the region’s deep-rooted folklore through surreal lyrics, acoustic instrumentation, and ritualistic harmonies. Their sound fuses fingerpicked guitar, bowed strings, steel and slide guitar, conga drums, and ambient textures, often opening with slow-burning chants that evoke ancestral memory and dreamlike states. Drawing inspiration from Cherokee legends, nursery rhymes, and ghost stories, the band crafts ballads that feel both ancient and otherworldly—songs like “Ash & Antler,” “Jesica’s Dreams,” and “The Witching Hour” explore themes of courage, transformation, and the veil between worlds.

Lantern Kin’s live performances are immersive and ceremonial, often staged in forest clearings, candlelit barns, or moss-covered ruins, with visuals that include lanterns, bones, driftwood, and Appalachian textiles. Their dual lead vocals—one male, one female—are supported by layered backup singers who echo like spirits in the trees. With roots in folk, blues, Hawaiian mele, and ambient psychedelia, Lantern Kin has carved out a niche that’s as groovy as it is ghostly, earning a devoted following among fans of mythic Americana and experimental folk.

Danny’s monthly podcast ‘Straight From The Record Box’ showcasing the best in dance music is listed in the Top 10 Best UK Left Wing Podcasts of 2021 which is a huge honor to be recognised as a tastemaker in the scene. 

Notorious for his energetic performances using the full potential of what the decks can offer, Danny involves every floor groover with the emotion of fusing all sub-genres of House music! Having taken stage across Europe's most notable clubs and venues Danny has performed at the infamous Amnesia Ibiza, Kalypso (Elrow) Croatia, We Are Festival, Ministry of Sound, Egg LDN and that’s only to name a few. Having opened for Mark Knight, Tough Love, Leftwing : Kody, Seth Troxler, Danny has since joined the #ToolroomFamily performing at their London residencies at Ministry Of Sound & Studio 338 in which the label is predicting big things for Danny Rhys.
