This is a completely revamped version of my twelfth Disco mix: Disco Strut. I was never fully satisfied with it, feeling that the overall tempo shifted too drastically in the middle. So I decided to split it in half and make two different mixes with more consistent tempos. The next one will be called Disco Bounce.

This one maintains a consistent slow/mid tempo throughout and the songs compliment each other and flow together better. The original mix has been deleted.

We have twenty fantastic tracks consisting of classic hits, all ready for you to strut your stuff! Just don't rock the boat, whatever you do!

Melba Moore began her recording career in 1967, cutting the track "Magic Touch" which was left unreleased until 1986. In later years it became an enormous track on the Northern Soul Scene, eventually leading to Moore performing it live in 2009 at the Baltic Soul Weekender 3 in Germany north of Hamburg. In 1967 she began her performing career as Dionne in the original cast of the musical Hair along with Ronnie Dyson, Paul Jabara and Diane Keaton. In 1975 Melba Moore signed with Buddha Records and released the critically successful R&B album, Peach Melba, which included the minor hit, "I Am His Lady". The following year she scored her first significant hit with the Van McCoy penned “This Is It “, which reached the Billboard Hot 100, the top-20 position on the R&B chart, and top-10 in the UK, becoming her biggest success in that country. In 1976 she scored her third Grammy nomination with the R&B ballad "Lean on Me", which had been recorded originally by Vivian Reed and later by Moore's idol Aretha Franklin who recorded the song as a B-side to her 1971 hit “Spanish Harlem". The song is most notable for Moore's extended long note at the end. In 1983 she re-recorded the song as a tribute to McCoy, who had died four years earlier. Throughout the rest of the 1970s, Moore struggled to match the success of "This Is It" with minor R&B/dance hits. However, her hit 'Pick Me Up, I'll Dance' released in May 1979 produced by McFadden and Whitehead and released on Epic Records did have considerable UK disco success, reaching UK chart position 48, along with a further hit that same year, also produced by McFadden and Whitehead with a cover version of the Bee Gees' hit “You Stepped Ito My Life”, which reached the top 20 on the R&B charts and 47 on the Billboard Hot 100.
In 1982 Moore signed with Capitol Records and reached the top 5 on the R&B charts with the dance-pop / funk single "Love's Comin' at Ya”, which also hit the top 20 in the UK  (on EMI America EA 146) and became a sizable hit in some European countries for its post-disco sound and followed by "Mind Up Tonight", which was another top 40 hit in the UK reaching position number 22. A string of R&B hits followed, including 1983's "Keepin' My Lover Satisfied" and "Love Me Right", 1984's "Livin' for Your Love", 1985's "Read My Lips"—which later won Moore a third Grammy nomination (for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance), making her just the third black artist after Donna Summer and Michael Jackson to be nominated in the rock category—and 1985's "When You Love Me Like This”.
Moore has been married once and has a daughter. Melba Moore was engaged in a four-year relationship with television star Clifton Davis during the early 1970s. Davis later admitted that the relationship failed due to his drug abuse and mistreatment of Moore. In September 1974, Moore married record manager and business promoter Charles Huggins. Moore and Huggins divorced after 17 years of marriage in 1991. In 1999, Huggins filed suit against Moore claiming that she had publicly defamed him by stating that he abused her economically. Melba Moore has described herself as a "born-again Catholic” and listen to her share the rest of her story right here on True House Stories.

Young man born in 1982 who loves reliving the ‘80s and ‘70s Disco music I was raised on.

Aside from family party D.J.s, was introduced to the concept of mixes via flea market tapes. Dabbled in it myself with equipment my father got me at age 10. With the advent of mp3s, got to do things I couldn’t with vinyl and CDs: precisely match up beats to the millisecond and use longer tracks as space is unlimited. Always wanted to present entire extended 12” dance remix versions as intended, not edited fragments. Means fewer songs per mix but whole work of the artist, producer and remixer can be appreciated.

I decided early on that each mix would follow a common beat style for consistency. I will not mix a four-on-the-floor Disco/dance beat with a standard two/four rock beat, or freestyle beat, and so on. It sounds sloppy and jarring. And tempos must be as consistent as possible as well. Songs will smoothly transition from one to the next as best I can make them—beats will be matched to the millisecond; this also includes the groove, or the "feel" of each song. I won’t blend two songs that don’t sound complimentary or harmonious together if I can help it.

For each mix series, I try to adhere to a common thread, which includes length. I made arbitrary choices from the first mixes. Though everything is relative, I like structure, routine, and consistency. For example, the ‘80s Hi-NRG Megamixes will run around 90 minutes, give or take a few; ‘80s Mid-Tempo Pop Mixes will be a minimum of 60 minutes; and Disco mixes will always be a minimum of two hours—and so on.

One problem I have is haste; I always seem to throw together the mixes in such a hasty fashion in order to upload them that I later remember songs that would have fit well in them. Either I forgot them because I didn’t have the files, didn’t take note of them ahead of time, or because of my hyper creative mood, so I constantly update the uploaded mixes. Keep vigil over them because they are always being changed.

I hope you enjoy listening to them as much as I enjoy making them. Nothing brings me more joy than knowing people are enjoying them with me. I would give anything for club D.J.s to play them so I can dance to my own mixes in the clubs in which they were intended to be heard!

One last thing: I decided, out of safety concerns, not to allow my files to be downloadable. There are options for you listeners, however, such as using Audacity to record them at your preference. Or there are plenty of online apps that will convert the links into mp3 files for you, including soundcloudmp3.org, sclouddownloader.net, soundcloudtomp3.app. So do what you wish!

I have re subscribed for another year due to followers asking me to come back. I hope you enjoy my mixes! 

I first started DJ'ing in 1978 when my friends made a "disco deck" from homemade components, I then bought the "Citronics" mixers,  amp and speakers off them and rebuilt it into something awesome!

I then did local clubs and pubs and was known as

"Apple Whites Funk Show"  

Had some real fond memories way back then, met some really nice people too and not so nice, including those that stole from me,  i had a lot of 12" records stolen from one gig :/

I then stopped doing clubs etc and went on to only pre order parties etc, as time was getting less and less for me.

I now do DJ'ing for pleasure only, for me and you, hence why a "like" is all so important to me, it keeps me going and mixing the music we all love and know so well and to listen to those we don't.

I hope you enjoy the mixes i do and perhaps, maybe follow to show your appreciation in my work.

I  try and cater for all tastes, as i have a very wide and varied taste myself, but the 80's and Trance/drum & bass are my favs :)
